Ask the Raven
A dark cold night, when I sat there free from fright
I hear a knocking at my door,
I wonder what I might sight.
I open the door and see a Raven sitting allure.
I asked the Raven his intention,
I thought it might have been a good question.
He answered with a shrill,
“I’ll answer a question, but only one you see,
so ask politely, and you might get the answer that be.”
I stared at the Raven in utter delight,
but was afraid he might take off in flight.
So I asked the question as quick as a fly,
“Tell me, oh Raven, when is it I will die?”
The Raven looked at me in a confused stare,
“Is this really the answer you want to hear?”
“Yes oh Raven” said I in a quiet tone,
“I’d like to know…because it is all I’ve ever wished to of known.”
The Raven paused, then gave a quick squawk.
“I shall tell you, but first here is a thought,
Are you sure the answer you seek, wont be horrible, terrible, and bleak?”
“I care not oh gloriouse Raven, because I wish to know, so please tell me Raven, tell me so.”
The Raven answer with a deep monotone,
“Your death will lye you, in pain with a groan. You will be impaled from the chest, without ever a thought. You will lay there, weaken, and wrought. And now you have the answer you sought.”
And with that he dissapeared, gave a loud squawk, and thusly no longer to hear.
I sat in wonder, about my death at hand, and now I wait, for his deadly command.

Description:
Now this poem is one of my personal favorites that I did, based off the poem by Edgar Allan Poe, his The Raven helped give birth to this poem. I have deep respect for Mr. Poe and his work.
This poem I wrote was for my English/Writting Class at my High School of Crosstimbers Acadamy. I kept it and decided to put it here.
So read it, and tell me what you think. ^w^ - Date: 01/10/2010
