You swiftly run towards Unknown
It looks wonderful, beautiful, like something to die for
Then
You fall forward
You look at your legs
Which are bound to the earth by metal chains
You look back up at the Unknown
It lingers
It remains at the same position
Smiling at you
Then frowning
Laughing
Then closing a door on you
You are released by the chains
Free to roam
You stand
You walk towards the door
You open it
You are thrown backwards
Again, you stand
Again, you return to the door
Again, you open it
Again, you are thrown back
You are frightened by Unknown
You maintain your position
As did Unknown
It opens the door
Tempts you to come closer
And closer
You slowly crawl
And are thrown back again
It tempts you again.
"Come here."
You cautiously crawl to it.
It kicks you back.
You sit.
You stay.
You leave it alone.
Until you stand.
Leave the door closed.
And seal it from you.
Forever.
You sit back down
It gets dark
You start laughing
Tears are pouring from your eyes
Like rain.
You keep smiling
And laughing

- Correct me if I am misinterpreting this one, but this would be a sort of poetic exploration of the (for some) lifelong struggle to accomplish one's dreams. For a time, even the most fatalistic and cynical strive for that unknown "something," reaching for the stars, exploring their limits, tempted by small successes, tried by the constant setbacks. Most will never be satisfied, and in the end they will most likely end up broken and bitter, working some dead-end cubicle mokey job at a big company.
