About the World: Sound & Music
Sound
Our sound effects are fantastic. We've been working with dSonic, a premier sound effects crew, and their work has been second-to-none on this project.
Every monster in the game (and there are many monsters), has a whole host of unique effects (movement, attacks, retreats, aggroes, etc.) plus there are environmental sounds (like birds, frogs, creaking windmills, running rivers, etc.) to bring the world to life, as well as all the "special effects" sounds like ring sounds, quest events and just plain old UI beeps and bloops. It's a huge job and dSonic has done an extremely well in making it all happen.
Click the Quicktime Movie file to see a production clip used to test the sounds for the Kokeshi Doll monster. You'll see that adding sound makes a huge difference in how the monster "feels" when you see it in-game.
Music
We are privileged to be working with Jeremy Soule of Artistry Entertainment. Jeremy has done phenomenal orchestral soundtracks for many of the top-rated games of the last 10 years.
He not only is an accomplished musician, but he and his brother also run a streaming music site known as DirectSong.
We are working with Jeremy and his company to not only create a whole host of completely original music content, but to also be able to stream in many thousands of other songs into our game so that the music is ever-changing and constantly fresh.
The original compositions they are creating for the game are exceptional and we have many themes with different musical flavors, depending on where you are in the game and what you're doing. You'll hear what we mean soon.
