Welcome to Soquili's Hiring Event! Starts: Now Ends: August 18th @ 11:59 PM EST We're looking to hire some talented staff to keep this shop alive and active; this time, we're looking for Lorekeepers! Think you've got the drive to work regularly, and a desire to help out Soquili? Then this is the place for you! Rules Please remember, this is a customer service position. A friendly personality, and being an ambassador to the shop, are traits we're looking for. Check your drama at the door and remember to be civil, regardless how you feel about people. We get that some people just don't click, or get along, and maybe you don't like fellow staff members. All that said, we are all volunteering our time here and you will be expected to deal with people you don't like civilly. We're a team, so please, keep the drama private.
We understand sometimes people don't get along, and mistakes have been made in the past. We will not hold past mistakes against you, but do understand, if you have a drama-filled background, or we get many complaints from previous employers, this might dampen your chances of being hired.
You may apply and be hired for multiple positions.
Prior B/C experience is not required, so long as you are willing to learn.

We at Soquili do not need to explain why we choose the hires we do, or justify why we did not hire someone, and we may choose not to hire anyone at all. We do not have to give details on why one was not picked. Please note, that even if you are not hired now, this does not mean you shouldn't try again during future hire events.
In July 2018 we announced our intent to change SC culture, and the large backlog that led to the decision. We still have work as old as 2016 waiting to be picked up, and while work is taken on by colorist interest more than by length of time, the effects of the backlog will be felt until it can be caught up, and there is no ETA for when this will be done. If you choose to apply, please understand what you will be getting into.

LorekeepersLorekeepers are essential to keeping the world of soquili alive and evolving. As a lorekeeper, you will work as part of a team to help keep the shop's RP side active and thriving. While initially you will be required to get final say from Phail / Nyx - this is only for training purposes and the role is intended to be a collaborative role where any one person is free to put forward ideas and run events ect. More detail about the role is below. Responsibilities Abilities and powers approval thread (working with Nyx & Phail first to get an understanding before doing solo)
Monitoring RPs/plot threads and contacting patrons if there are any rule violations
Collaborating with fellow RP staff to plan RP events - you are welcome to suggest and come up with your own events you don't need to wait for me to start planning!
Answering lore questions (working with Nyx & Phail first to get an understanding before doing solo)
Working on discussions about various lore topics (updating rules/lore)
Elder openings / judging
Writing flair text for events
Running / contributing to meta events
Running monthly RP games (coming up with monthly prompts, engaging with colorists to arrange prizes, reading RPs and awarding prizes) RequirementsSound understanding of the shop lore and RP rules. We understand that this is always changing and even we have trouble understanding but as long as you have an understanding of the fundamentals that's fine!
Creativity. This is very much a creative position that will involve a lot of writing and coming up with storylines ect.
Discord. This is our main form of communication and planning and it's essential you have access!
Ability to work collaboratively with a team. PayLorekeepers are paid a flat 1250c each month
Fulfilling 6 months of activity back-to-back entitles the tech staff to a break month where they are not obligated to work, and another staff may fill in.
A cut is taken from event pay to share with eligible tech staff; however, the majority goes to colorist staff.

You've been tasked with coming up with an idea for the next RP month - it can be whatever you want. What is it? I would do a twisted tale or gender swapped fairy tales. The character would like female puss in boots, golden locks bing a guy. Petra and wolf, female Chestshire cat. I would do flaffle or hue Shift. The prompt: You find your self near a portal, once through it you notice the world is a different. During your inspection, you see something. Walking closer you notice someone. Using gender swapped fairy tales tell us what you see?
My other idea would be in meadow there is a great hidden pearl. This pearl is very special. It is very magical. It grants one wish. This wish can be used to wish for a missing family member, or familiar. To find this pearl you must follow the clues. Listen closely. This could be swapped out for items as well
1. Pearl is near a pear tree.
2. It can only be found by hill.
3. It is hidden in shadow.
Why do you want to work for Soquili? I love the shop. You guys are my online family. I try to help out when I can.
Why do you believe you'd be a good fit for this position? I'm creative, I love lore and I try to follow the rules to best of abilities.
Anything else you'd like to add? I have a doctorate in folklore. I'm a natural storyteller. I have another doctorate in nautical archeology. Telling stories is important.

In all seriousness! I'll be available 7 days a week from 5pm til about 10pm, with intermittent breaks during the day (Planning period, Lunch) and mostly free on weekends.
Do you believe you have a sound understanding of the fundamental RP rules/Lore of soquili? Sound, yes. Perfect, No. But that's what learning from your peers is for!
If you could change one RP/lore rule in soquili, what would it be? The main thing I never liked was that shifters had to be chaotic evil, but that was changed so I really have very few gripes. None that I can think of in the moment, of course.
I would also change the whole 'Angeni and Shifters can't breed' thing because it just seems a bit silly of a restriction to have (And I love a good enemies to lovers plotline) but that's a potential discussion to be had!

So I love escape room-style prompts where your character has been somehow kidnapped or wandered into an area they're now stuck in and must find their way out.
Participants' first post would include a 1d20 dice roll to determine the difficulty their character(s) have finding their way out, from 'Oh no i'm lost!- wait silly me the path's over there!' to 'It has been two days and I'm finding my own hoofprints I need divine intervention'. Maybe do a +5 tickets for using the dice roll so there's also an option to make your own difficulty, but incentive to leave it up to fate?
Why do you want to work for Soquili? I've been here so long my first Soq is almost legally able to drink alcohol in the US. I feel like my coloring isn't up to snuff to be a colorist, and certing might be out of my wheelhouse, so lorekeeper is a good position concerning my upcoming time and availability.
Also because someone mentioned y'all have Crab Boil Fridays and I want in on that gimmie some crab
Why do you believe you'd be a good fit for this position? I like to come up with idea for RP scenarios and help with worldbuilding. RP itself is difficult, but I'm able to spew out ideas left and right. I'm also a public school educator to keeping up with rules and regulations is something I gotta be on top of, haha.
Anything else you'd like to add? I've also created and run Phox Shop Cafe and almost single-handedly built the lore around it, taking suggestions from staff and customer alike to make the world richer! So I do love collaborations and thrive on talking to other people rather than be stuck in a corner by my lonesome.
I've also like. Written so much flair text for certain games I'm at a point where I do it automatically.
Also, I have never, ever, EVER used AI/ChatGPT for anything and I never will.

What's your availability like? Generally a bit each night around 7pm my time, or after 11pm. I respond to pings as often as possible throughout the day as well. Thursdays and Sundays can be hit or miss though as they are my days off and I tend to ignore most things for family and friends irl.

If you could change one RP/lore rule in soquili, what would it be? Usdia only being able to Spirit breed outside of other Usdia-type breeds
You've been tasked with coming up with an idea for the next RP month - it can be whatever you want. What is it? Halloween is heavy on my mind, so maybe a Haunted House style event. Is it actually haunted? Or just for fun? How does your Soquili react?
Why do you want to work for Soquili? I love this shop, and somewhere deep down I always have been (and will be) a horse girl. I want to be a deeper part of such old magic on Gaia.
Why do you believe you'd be a good fit for this position? I love to organize and flex my creative muscles. Its fun to see how differently people respond to the same prompt.

What's your availability like? I'm almost always reachable on discord. I am a single mom and I typically work Monday - Thursday 7am-5pm. I do try to spend time with my kiddo on the weekends since I do work such longer hours during the week. I'm typically available to chat anytime though, but if work gets kinda busy I do get side tracked and may need poked because it's possible I forgot.
Do you believe you have a sound understanding of the fundamental RP rules/Lore of soquili? Yes -ish. I still ask questions about certain things because some things I either forgot or never looked into before but I do have a semi good base.

Gosh, we have so many different things. We've honestly gotten really free with things as the years have gone on. I don't know if I would change anything at this point, but I'm sure there are things that might come up at some point.
You've been tasked with coming up with an idea for the next RP month - it can be whatever you want. What is it? I'd really like to do a lore meta kinda thing. Not just the typical "Celebrate the seasons" or what not. Not that we have new species, but like when a species is introduced to the shop there is usually a large meta surrounding it. I'd love to do something like that with lore related things. What? Not entirely sure yet.
CYOA type raffle where you get a ticket for every prompt that you complete and at least 1 for entering (if you don't pass the first prompt). Winner will get first choice, runner up with get second, the rest will be raffled off between entrants.
Why do you want to work for Soquili? I currently work for SOQ, just wanted to do something that doesn't require me to use Photoshop quite so often.
Why do you believe you'd be a good fit for this position? I like to think I'm creative. I haven't done too much roleplaying in a while, but that happens when you've been with gaia for 20+ years. Creativity comes and goes but I know it's still important to spark creativity in others.
