As the sun finally set completely, and the only light was that of the moon and stars. The celebration would begin soon. She hurried back through the village to prepare for the ceremony that would mark her becoming of age.
She soon reached her home, a small, stone shed at the west edge of the forest that surrounded the village. She had lived there scenes she turned 13. It might not seem like much to most people, but it fit her needs better than any other place could.
Waiting outside for her was Arlien, the baby dragon she had had for a pet for as long as she could remember. The moon reflected off the silver scales that covered her small body. Not yet able to fly, she ran toward her master, greeting her happily.
'What are you doing out here?" Yuuki asked as she picked the tiny dragon up. She stocked its scales gently. "Lets go in and get ready."
She walked toward the door and reached for the nob. But before she could grab it, the door opened. Light pored out, almost blinding them.
A stout woman stood before them. Her arms were crossed, showing that she was not in the best mood. She stepped out of the door way. "Where have you been? You're running late! Grab you're stuff and lets go!"
"Yes Namana!" Yuuki said, running into the house. She grabbed the light blue dress off her bed and ran back outside.
"Come on!" Namana said beginning up the path into the village. She mumbled something to herself... "Stupid child... Always messing up at something..."
"What crawled up her skirt..." Yuuki muttered.
"What was that!" Namana said.
"Nothing!" Yuuki said.
They soon reached the village square.
