Year One Then Two and Suddenly Six
I pledge allegiance to the flag Of the United States of America. Who, on nine-eleven, leaned that fear Can often bring a nation together. And to the republic for which it stands, Our fate is sealed in it. One nation under god. To believe or not believe; it never really mattered On that day of sadness and terror Everyone’s faith flew low and high and then soared above the clouds. Indivisible We all were on that day, more so than ever before. For liberty That lady tall still watches down upon Those who died and those who lost They’ll all be missed forever long. And justice for all. Even those who kill, They’ll get what they deserve. And while our soldiers fly to war We all must remember why. “Its not that we want to hurt people” “Its not that we don’t care” “Its just we’ve already lost what mattered most” “And what’s left to fight for but what is here?” A love for a country that, In the midst of ash and fire, Held hands and sang for all to hear “Yeah, we showed them that’s for sure” And “Hey terrorists let me thank you for everything that year”
Now six years later I stand here to ask you all Do you still care about what happened here? On nine-one-one-two thousand and one
