Silence filled the air, glimmering snow sleepily drifting down from a darkened sky. It was a beautiful if dreary sight as the buildings, cars, streets, and occasional person were covered in a blanket of purity. The trees were leafless and the buildings were all sealed up tight with the exception of the local coffee shop. It's flashing neon door sign signaling to the passing travlers 'Come inside we've got warmth'. The windows of this building gave off a warm light, that flickered with each movement of the inner fireplace. It was rare that this town truly got snow like this. It was the type romance movies were made of, soft and fluffy, while falling lazily onto the heads of stolen lovers. There were no breaking winds and no blizzard like chills just the silence of the streets as the world focused for the moment on making this very second in time last as long as possible.
And thats exactly what it felt like to her like a moment in time frozen just for the two of them. With hands clasped and eyes focused on nothing else the young couple exited the small coffee shop. They didn't need it's warmth and for that matter they were sure they didn't need anything other then each other. By the look in their eyes a person couldn't tell they had been sad only a moment before. Their young hearts sinking slightly with the idea that they would soon be seperated, this very moment in the snow their final memory. They had decided to make it special and possibly drag this night out as long as possible. And for a moment the boy pulled her to the side his arms entwining about her waist. Blue eyes meeting golden ones as they melted in each other's gazes. There was no lust hidden there, no primal wanting of the body. All these two wanted was to be able to hold each other for eternity and if things hadn't gotten so messed up then maybe just maybe thats what would of happened. Their eyes didn't break gazes as he leaning in close and hugged her to him, his blond hair just brushing against her forehead from beneath the hat he was wearing. He was taking in her smell, the smell of warmth and cinders from an open fire one of his gloved hands bringing up a strand of black hair and pressing it to his lips.
"I don't want you to go" she thought unwilling to break the silence with something as brutal sounding as a voice, although she wished for nothing more then to hear his. She could only watch him amazed at his beauty and at the fact that he seemed completly hers. She wanted to kiss him then and to hold him to her like she used to when no one knew they were together. But those days were gone and even this final day was a danger to them both. Meeting his gaze again she could feel one warm tear drift down the side of her cheek, and her lip began to quiver slightly as her resolve was melting away. What right did he have to make her feel this way, to make her heart feel like it was being wrenched out of her chest? And why did he have to go, why did they have to find out? Instantly she felt her tears begin to pour down her face and his hands moved to her cheek rubbing them away with his thumb.
"Shhh" he breathe out kissing her softly "They can never keep us apart, you know that" he whispere trying to remain strong as his voice began to shake slightly. Slowly he leaned in to her and pulled with weakened hands at her skarf, revealing her neck. She didn't fight him but only kept crying until he pressed his lips against her. Her neck was warm against his frozen lips and the kisses instantly calmed her, something only he had been able to do. She could only close her eyes as he did this and wrap her arms around him her hands finding their way to his head and her fingers digging beneath his hat. She buried her head into his golden hair and took in his smell as the hat fell onto the snow, momentarily forgotten. Again she could feel her heart being wrenched out but she ignored it if only to enjoy this one moment.
They didn't move for a good while and her tears had long ago frozen on her face as she just breathed against him. At some point though he pulled back, his now warm lips brushing past her ear as he whispered something in a soft angelic voice. "Fly with me" he said softly before pulling her even tighter against him, his body bending them slightly so his fingers could grab onto his hat. He handed it to her and she clutched at it between gloved fingers pressing it to her chest inbetween them as he brought one of his arms beneath her legs, scooping her up bridal syle. Her gold eyes closed as she leaned her head against his chest her ears picking up the sound of fluttering feathers and then a heavy 'whoosh' as they were lifted into the cool night air. Instantly she opened her eyes and looked at him feeling his cool blue eyes on her, as the wind blew back her hair and his peppering them with snowflakes.
"I don't want you to leave" she finally voice the words and he looked at her with a saddened exprecion. His blue eyes dimming a little and causing her heart to skip a beat.
"I know, I don't want to leave either. I want to be with you" as he spoke his eyes moved looking at the buildings and sleeping town beneath them. "I want you to have something but I can't give it to you up here" as he spoke they began to decend his wings foldinging in a little as they neared the small park located in the center of town. He seemed preoccupied with some odd thought and so she didn't say anything but only looked down at the apporaching ground. Snuggling in closer to his chest as she closed her eyes for a brief moment. Once she felt them land she looked back at him and gestured for him to let her down and he did placing her gently on the ground.
"Ok so what is it?" she asked looking at him as he folded on of his wings in they were large and white like the snow. Feathered and soft, she had layed her head on them many times and instantly fallen a sleep. As she watched he reached out and plucked a small feather which quickly turned gold.
"This and..." he suddenly reached out and drew her to him pressing her against his chest and holding her "my blood" She wanted to say no, to struggle but in that instant the sweetest smell came to her senses. In an instant she could feel her head swim and her eyes closed as her lips pressed against his exposed neck. Fangs extened showing themselves through her partially parted lips as her eyes opened halfway.
"My angel...." she whispered before letting her fangs sink into his neck. The second the blood touched her tongue she felt everything inside her go wild. A tearing sound filled the air and the smell of her own blood feintly touched through her senses. She could feel soft angel wings enclose her back and then wings of her own moving to tangle with his. She didn't feel pain this time and at some point she had stoped drinking her head coming back so her lips could reach his. They kissed and she realized that this was it, he had to leave. She clung to him and her wings kept tightly wrapped around his. But her lips were kissing nothing, her wings and arms were wrapped around nothing. Tears welled up and poured freely down her cheeks, her hand still lightly clutched to his hat and the golden feather. Her knees buckled and she collapsed to the frozen snow her bat like wings curled around her body as a small light inside of her dimmed and slowly died. Her eyes darkened and she didn't register the world around her, not even as a single shape appeared in the distance followed briefly by another.
With hair as white as snow and eyes like golden stars the female stepped into the empty park. A sad expression on her face as she felt the snow crunch beneath her light steps. At her side was a male similar gold eyes glimmering with tears of his own, scarred face distorted in sadness. They both looked at the shape in the snow as it drew closer...or rather as they walked forward. "Poor child..." the woman whispered kneeling at her side and brushing stray strands of black hair back from a blank face. "Don't worry...I'll make sure he comes back to you" she leaned down and placed a kiss on the girls forhead before turning her eyes to the man behind her. Nodding her head once she stood and stepped back as he stepped forward.
And togther they took her away, back home, back to where her family would cry the tears she couldn't and feel the pain her body was too numb to register.
