Here's everything you can do to get gold in Gaia, minus buying and selling stuff in the Exchange.
1) Every twelve hours, you can click on the three ads on the home page and one more, different ad in the link review section. This will give you about 60 gold each time.
2) Every 24 hours, you can answer 10 polls (wait about 15 sec in between each) for 100 gold.
3) Submit 2 link reviews every twelve hours. Again, about 60 gold total each time.
4) Post at least 2 or 3 posts every 12 hours. The longer you are away, the more your next post is worth, so post randomly every couple of hours, if you want.
5) Submit some piece of crap to the art arena. I'm not sure how much it's worth, seeing as I've never done this, but I know you get gold for it.
If you time it right, you can do each of those, except the polls, twice a day, like 8 in the morning and 8 at night. Without posting, this will give you 500 a day. Follow that up with a post here and there, and it's quite easy to make 1000 gold a day or more.
