A young girl walked on the streets of the city, tired. "Ugh.. I'm tired, and I'm hungry, and my feet hurt really bad!" She complained, pushing a strand of her messy maroon hair out of her face. "I just wanna eat!" She practically screamed, causing a few people to look at her strangely. "Ugh.. Guess I might as well go to the Pokemon Center." She said to no-one in particular.
40 years ago, the area where she walked was forest. No pokemon centers, no buildings, nothing except the berries on the side that grew. In these woods, walked an orphan, who had been left homeless and without parents after her house was burned down by Team Rocket in an attempt to attract Celebi, who had been said to inhabit the area. The orphan was hungry as well, and walked deep into the forest. It eyed the sides for berries to eat, especially sitrous berries, his favorite fruit. "Is anyone out there?" He yelled, needing desperate help. All that answered him was the pidgey squawking overhead. He started moving on.
"Oh, hello." The Nurse Joy said to the girl. "Uh, hi.." She said back. "Could you heal up my Pokemon?" She asked. The Nurse Joy nodded and took the PokeBalls from her, putting them in a machine before handing them back to her a few seconds later. "Thanks." She said, sitting down on one of the couches. Trainers slept there all the time, so it should be okay if she just sat down there.
Soon, a shrine was what the orphan encountered. Because he was tired, and hungry, he sat down to conserve energy, and paid no heed to the inscription. Then he noticed a bushel of sitrous berries next to the shrine. He picked seven berries and popped them into his mouth. He saved some for later, and fell asleep. Unknown to him, this was the shrine for Celebi. After about half an hour, a trainer woke her up. “Hey.” The irked trainer mumbled. “You're not supposed to sleep in the benches, you know?” The girl whispered something unintelligible to herself, and wandered off. After some pointless walking, she spotted a forest. “Might as well go ahead and explore this forest.” She walked over. A voice coming from a nearby tree house bellowed: “When you hear the chime of time, stay still, or get sucked into a different time!” Out of the tree house came out a woman, about in her seventies, with a neutral face, and a Hoothoot-tipped cane.
The boy was sleeping soundly, when the Celebi appeared from a bush nearby. It noticed the boy, lying down on the stone shrine. It was terrified, and pitiful at the same moment. Terrified, because of what humans have done to try to find it. Pitiful, because the boy appeared in horrible shape, in near-starving state. His clothes were burned almost completely off from some fire, and he seemed to be recently burned. The Celebi ducked behind some bushes, and provided a small leaf blanket it had made in it's spare time. It wrapped the boy up, and looked. The boy opened one sleepy eye, and Celebi jumped back in paranoid fear. The boy smiled, and closed it's eyes once more. Celebi assumed, since it didn't jump to grab it, it was friendly. Lonely, perhaps?
“Thanks.” The girl said as she waved at the old lady, and continued on her way, and all the way, the old lady stared at her with the monotone face she had. The girl went through a hollowed-out stump, and continued through the forest. She fingered a Pokeball, and opened it. Out came Misdreavus, and remarked: “I haven't been here.” The girl sassed: “What are you, the area police? I don't have to tell you where I go.” Misdreavus decided to change the subject, and said: “What're we here for, anyway?” The girl turned her head to Misdreavus as she was walking, and said: “I just came here to see this place, and maybe catch myself a Pokemon.” Misdreavus looked at her from top to bottom, pointed at her overstuffed pokeball belt, and said: “Don't you have enough?”
Celebi circled the boy, preoccupied about him. He was a Pokemon that normally didn't care much for humans, but this seemed to be nice and caring. He could sense the boy had been through quite the trial. The boy's demeanor seemed outgoing and fun-loving. It then noticed the boy was sound asleep. Celebi turned his back on him, and raised his arms to the nearby trees in the forest. After a few seconds, thick, strong, vines filled with thorns suddenly sprung from the ground, covering a half-mile radius of the forest in vines. It was pretty much impossible to get though with technology at that time. Celebi then laid down to sleep next to the boy, in the mossy shrine, as it was getting to be nightfall.
Back in present time, night was falling as well in the forest, and big, red, unblinking eyes from the Hoothoot filled the forest with an insecure stare. The girl was looking left: Hoothoot. The girl looked right: Hoothoot. She crouched down in childlike fear, and rocked back and forth, whispering: “Get me out of here, Get me out of here......” Suddenly, Misdreavus slapped her hard in the right cheek, and screamed in her ear: “Pull yourself together, man...err...woman...” Misdreavus just stopped taking when her trainer got that I'm-so-going-to-rip-your-eyes-out look. Ten seconds later, Misdreavus was running towards the center of the forest, screaming: “Help, a trainer with a really bad hairdo wants to eat me!” While her trainer tried to tackle her to the ground. She then got a bit tired, and removed the collapsible tent from her backpack, and pitched it. Misdreavus arrived shortly, still panting.
“Good night,Celebi. Thank you for granting me your trust, and your compassion. I will not let you down.” The boy whispered, half asleep. The boy, sleeping, had a dream. He was in a blank space. It seemed to have no color, no dimension. It was just...blank. Except for the strange figure in the corner. It was hooded with a black cloak, but you could easily see it's purple tail sticking out from the lower back. It seemed to have telekinetic abilities, when it floated over to the boy. The boy had no freedom of movement, so he was at the mercy of the being. The being stood there, still as he was. The minutes that went on seemed like decades to the boy. Then, after many tense minutes, the being “spoke”. “You're going to die.”
Back in present day, the young trainer fidgeted in her sleeping bed. Inside her mind, something complicated happened. She was having a dream, somewhat similar to the boy's. She was in a blank room, with no depth or color. In the corner of the room, stood a dark figure, shrouded by a menacing aura. It had a semi-transparent body, a white goatee and a red collar. It extended it's hand towards the trainer, and the trainer was propelled towards the being. She closed her eyes as the wind blew past her, and she suddenly stopped. She looked into the eyes of the dark being, now in front of her, and heard a faint whisper: “You're going to die.”
The boy woke up feeling threatened by the being, and looked around in total insecurity. Pidgey squawked, and Taillow glided overhead. He heard a squeak behind him, which turned out to be Celebi grunting. The boy wrapped him in the leaf blanket, and went on his way to grab to fetch some berries for Celebi and himself. On the way, he admired the landscape, as he carried a basket he had taken from the house before it burned down. In about an hour, the basket was filled with berries ranging from Aspear to Wiki berries. It then returned to the shrine, only to find Celebi missing. He shouted: “Celebi, where are you? I've got breakfast here!” He looked around, to see Celebi smashing into the back of his head, sending the boy's head falling into the grass. Celebi laughed in glee, as he sat on top of the toppled trainer's head. The trainer grabbed the celebi, and sat it down on the shrine. Celebi looked at the trainer quizzingly, as he handed him an assortment of berries. He then sat down next to him, munching on an Oran berry. Celebi took the lead, and munched on a berry himself. They sat, side by side, enjoying a lunch, a boy, and his Pokemon.
In present day, a girl was about waking up, and stood up. She scanned her surroundings, and mumbled to herself: “That thing...What was it?” Her thoughts were interrupted by a wind that shook the tree leaves. Inside the tent, Misdreavus had found her way out of the Pokeball, and was behind the girl. She didn't notice, until a piercing scream resonated from behind her. She crouched in fetal position, repeating: “Don't kill me, Don't kill, me!” Misdreavus was about to slap her cheek again, when she remembered what happened yesterday. She hesitated, and waited for her to calm down. She stood up, and received a slap to the face. “What'd you do that for?” She whined, gripping her burning cheek. Misdreavus spun in the air, poked her nose, and said: “For acting like a crazy person when I screamed at you. You're used to my screams. Is something wrong?”
After a great lunch, Celebi pulled the boy's sleeve, through a small gap in the vines, big enough to fit the boy and Celebi. They went to frolic in a nearby meadow, play hide-and seek in the nearby tall grass, and watch the Butterfree fly though the blooming flowers, sipping the nectar out of plants, pollinating them. They had a great time, but when it turned nightfall, Celebi noticed the boy was scared of something, when he sat alone under the shade of a tree, intensely looking around with caution. Celebi sat next to the boy, placed the small green hand it had in his hand, and asked the boy in the little human language it knew: “What..wrong?” The boy turned to the Celebi, and started explaining with: “Well, it started when we went to sleep...”
“I had a nightmare.” The girl said, before adding: “That you didn't create.” The girl felt Misdreavus enter her conscious for a second, and then return to the real world. Misdreavus was a bit surprised when she returned, but it didn't stop the Misdreavus from explaining: “What you saw is no ordinary pokemon. I think, if I'm correct, you saw a Darkrai.” The girl was a little confused, before Misdreavus continued: “Darkrai is known as the Shadow Pokemon. It invades the spirit of others, and assumes their form, like a doppleganger. That is, if it enters your dreams.” Misdreavus explained, before finishing her explanation. The girl was amazed. “How do you know all this?” Misdreavus jokingly responded: “We were great friends in high school.” After getting a small pat on the head. She then said the truth: “I have a source that told me of this. There's somebody else that's getting something similar to what's happening to you.”
Celebi soothed the troubled soul with a Heal Bell, and lied down next to him, tired. Celebi had played a lot with the human today, and started to close it's eyes in sleepiness. The boy grabbed Celebi, and placed it on his lap for a better sleeping spot. Celebi smiled in satisfaction, as it slowly drifted into sleep. The boy went through the gap again, and found the sheet Celebi covered him when it first found him. He placed Celebi at the base of the shrine, and lied down with it, covering them both with the leaf sheet. Soon, the boy was snoring away his troubles in the night sky. But his peace would not last for long...Something thumped in the forest. Trees were going down one by one, and they were nearing Celebi and the Boy's sleeping spot.
The girl got even more curious, and asked: “So, who might this source be?” Misdreavus was appalled. “Well, you're a curious one. Well, I'm not telling. And there's absolutely nothing you can do.” The girl smirked. “Really, now? You seem so sure of yourself.” The girl went inside when she finished speaking. Misdreavus waited in anticipation, as she brought a big object, about as big as herself. It had a switch, and some sort of small bulb inside it.The bulb was covered by a glass pane, and inside, foiled with something reflective. “What in the world is that contraption?” Misdreavus sweat dropped, as the girl put her finger on the switch, almost looking like a hit man. “This...is a flashlight.” The girl said, mere seconds before pulling the switch, and releasing a powerful beam of concentrated light towards Misdreavus. To the touch, Misdreavus got a searing pain in her necklace. She hated the light, especially bright light. She ran in circles, while the trainer chased her with the flashlight beam. Misdreavus wailed: “Alright, I'll tell you!” Once the girl heard it, she shut off the flashlight, and sat down. She placed it in her knapsack, and sat down on a fallen log, while Misdreavus sat across her.
The thumping got louder by the second, and the boy noticed. Each thump shook the earth more and more, and after a few minutes Celebi woke up. Celebi noticed the ground shaking, and went over the canopy of the forest to investigate. When Celebi had a clear view of the entire forest, it was suddenly grabbed by a steel arm. Celebi wailed in agony, as the arm retracted to what seemed like a steam-driven spider walker. On the deck of the walker, stood a man and a woman in black suits, marked with an R. The boy ran towards the walker, to be confronted by the duo. The male said, while fingering a black rose: “You can't stop us. We are the elite Rocket team of Cassidy...” He said, pointing at the girl. “And b***h...” Cassidy said, pointing at the male, before getting a shove from the male. “My name is BUTCH. NOT b***h.” Cassidy turned to butch. “What...ever. Let's just get this mission over with and get our reward.” They both jumped back on the walker by means of a jet pack, and then, Butch pointed at the steel arm with a startled face. Celebi escaped, and was floating next to the boy.
“My source made a promise not to tell you until the time is right, but I'll give you a hint.” Misdreavus explained, as she fingered her bright necklace. “ My source is legendary.” The girl was shocked a bit, then smirked. “So that's where you went when I slept.” Misdreavus sweatdropped. “Um...let's go with that.” She didn't really go to her source when her trainer slept, and her source appeared to her at random times. The trainer remarked: “One question. How do you get out of your Pokeball?” Misdreavus made a face, and danced around her, repeating. “You'll never know, You'll never know..” She then sat back down across her trainer. She rubbed her belly, and whined: “I'm hungry. ” The girl tossed her a Sitrous berry, which Misdreavus greedily devoured.
Cassidy was infuriated, and pressed a button on the walker. A mechanical arm shot out, but Celebi teleported behind the walker. Over at the other side, Butch pressed a button, and another mechanical arm shot out. This time, it was too sudden, and it grabbed both Celebi and the boy. Cassidy rushed over. “Well, well, well, we could always use another janitor here at team rocket. You're coming with us.” The mechanical arm dropped them into a plexiglass cage, where pokemon can't teleport out. Celebi thought, and the boy held it like a child. Suddenly, celebi started to glow.
