A poem by Lean De La Fontaine.
The Fox And The Crow
A crow,perched debonairly on a branch,
was holding a cheese he'd found__by
chance.
Along came a fox.He sniffed that cheese,
And he spoke to its owner in words
like these:
"Good morning, good morning, dear
Brother crow!
My, you look fine! I've never seen
you so_
So__handsome Yes! I mean every word
of it!
And your lovely voice! won't you
sing a bit?"
The crow wass enchanted__he could see
no choice
But give the fox a sample of his voice.
He opened his beak'and__cheese,good-
bye!
The fox grabbed it up without batting
an eye.
said the fox: "as a payment for what
you've lost
I'll give you a lesson worth twice the
cost:
flattery's a game for two'my dear,
one to talk__and another to hear."
