The "Facepalm" Darwin Award
(If you don't know what Facepalm is, please see this example how it's used by my colleague in brilliance, Captain Jean-Luc Picard).
I've only been using the internet for a short time, and even I've come across password phishing. This is when someone tries to trick you into giving up your password or other account details. These emails don't just come from Nigerian princesses - they can come from other Gaia members, usually promising something great in return for giving up your password.
This PM isn't all that unique... until the phisher thought it would be a good idea to send it directly to a number of Gaia Admins!
"Greetings, from the admin team!
Because youve been such a good member, we want to give you a special treat. We have a link to the secret Admin panel that we use to get all our good items. You can use it to get anything you want, as long as it's not over 999,999 gold (can't give out too much you know). We just need to verify that you own this account, and are interested in using the panel, so if you are, send us this information:
Password; E-mail; Age; State;
Thanks! We look forward to your reply!"
Just wow.
Tip: Again, never give our your password to ANYONE. Most of the time, these messages will either directly ask you for your password or send you to a fake log-in page. Sometimes they promise gold/items, and sometimes they try to scare you into listening - like saying "I'm an admin, and if you don't give me this information in 15 minutes you'll be banned".
