• chapter 6-> run



    For the next 3 days of school I tried to avoid Masuno and Dante resisting the tears of fright within me. After school I flew around the woods aimlessly thinking of a song I knew called Love Song by Sara Bareilles. "head underwater, and you tell me, to breath easy for awhile. But breathing gets harder even I know that. Made room for me, its too soon to see if I'm happy in your hands. Unusually I don't want to. Blank stairs and blank pages, no easy way to say this. You mean well but you make this hard on me. I'm not gonna write you a love song. cause you asked for it cause you need one you see I'm not gonna write you a love song cause you tell me its a break in your way. I'm not gonna write you to stay. If all you have is leaving I'm gonna need a better reason to write you a love song today." I started singing to myself again. "Masuno was right about your voice. It is made for an angel." I heard from behind me. Dante. I turned around grinding my teeth still singing the song in my head. He put up his hands, "It's alright I'm just here to talk," He spoke calmly. I glared at him, "About what?" I accused. "What has happened to you the past few days." he said. I felt the tears brimming and I blinked them back. "Fine I'll talk" I gave in sitting on a tree stump. I retracted my wings and so did Dante.



    I told him about the man, the powers, the flight, everything that has happened since I met Masuno and the pain. Dante's eyes were hard and concentrated on my words. When I was finished I had tears trickling down my cheeks and my vision blurred. I wiped my nose and cleared my eyes to watch his reaction. But he was gone. Dante had deserted me in the forest alone and heartbroken between to people. "broken and torn between two of the same" I whispered to myself. I brought my wings back out and flew home slowly. When I arrived I ran to my room and threw myself on the bed and muffled my frustrated screams in my pillow. I hear my door latch open. "Hello dad" I spoke through my pillow. "oh, how'd you know it was me?" he asked clearly embarrassed that he had been caught. "Your the only one who sneaks into my room" I answered smugly. "okay then, since your alright I'll see you hon I'm going on a late shift." he spoke. "Kay' see ya dad" I replied. When I heard my door shut I let out another muffled ear piercing scream. I uncovered my face and thought of Dante and Masuno. How could Masuno not tell me of his dark twin? Why did Dante hide for so long? How did Dante find me in the first place? Millions of questions flowed in and out of my head as I asked and answered each one lying to myself most of the time.



    After contemplating the options I had right now I decided to go with my 3rd option out of 5. which we 1. cry 2.break up with Masuno 3.run away 4.kill self 5.kill Masuno and Dante. I jumped from my bed to start packing my stuff when I heard a branch snap from outside near my window. I swerved around to see a very familiar shape fly away from a thick branch that was hanging from a twig now. Dante. He had been spying on me and reading my mind. s**t. He knew and was going to tell Masuno. I ran to my closet and grabbed all my clothes then to the kitchen for food. I then got my money and car keys. I stuffed it all in an old backpack. I shrugged on one of my dad's coats and grabbed a wide rimmed hat to conceal my identity. I noticed a note on the kitchen table and picked it up. I flipped the top of the card to see a fancy writing style that read,
    "Kyoko, I know your options, I know what your doing, don't do it. though you barely know me I love you. So does Masuno. Without you we are both capped within darkness. If you leave we shall find you and bring you back no matter what the consequences.

    Dante"




    I read over the words a few times running it through my head. He had already told Masuno. Dead meat. Dead meat was what I was labeled at that moment. My hands begun to shake as I grabbed my stuff and ran from the house taking flight. I saw the dark figures of ravens and owls in the night as I soared above. I took in the exhilaration of the night air running throw my hair and racing beside and past me. I thought of Dante then and used my powers to hear his dark thoughts, "Dammit Kyoko you should have stayed now their after you. DAMN IT ALL! s**t I can't catch her scent. Masuno! do you have her scent?" and I switched to Masuno, "no, she's up over the trees go above and search the sky" I heard. I froze in midair shocked by their words and became truly worried then. Who was after me now? I turned frantically searching for the shape of Masuno or Dante far or near. No luck, instead I got a surprise. There was a dark red goblin floating 50 yards from me grinning with razor teeth. That. That's what's after me. I screamed as loudly as I could and heard the echo for 7 counts. I heard a roar from the goblin and it shot at me with sharp, bright fireballs. my eyes widened and I froze yet again. Only to find myself thrown out of the way by an unfamiliar person. It was Naruko,, my former boyfriend. "Dammit run Kyoko!" He yelled as he stabbed at the goblin with ice blades. I turned and flew into the trees hiding in a bush retracting my wings. I heard close footsteps then and Masuno's voice. "Kyoko?" I heard him call out softly. I crawled from the bush covered in branches and mud. "There you are!" he cried out hugging me. I wiggled away and stared up into his green eyes. Wait, Masuno's eyes are blue! I stepped backwards and the thing turned into a tall mud thing that was smiling. I broke out running then not caring about what I hit or what I ran over. I just ran.




    After running for 20 minutes the thing finally gave up and flew off. I stopped and flew up searching for Naruko or Dante or Masuno. I got luck this time. I saw them searching for me and I called out there names, "NARUKO, MASUNO, DANTE!" and waved my arms. They noticed me and flew over quickly all anxious. they were all asking if I was alright and I just kept repeating, "yes, yes, I'm fine relax." They all took hold of me and carried me home all sitting watching me intently so I would go to sleep. "oh fine" I grumbled and laid. I let the sleep get me wiping all occurrences away for the time being.






    chapter 7-> tricks


    I awoke to Dante's, Masuno's, and Naruko's angry yelling. They were fighting over me. I slapped myself on the forehead with the heel of my hand when I saw this. They turned towards me and all turned silent turning red. I got up, still in my clothes from yesterday, and walked from the room. You see, the guys who made our house put my door on backwards (don't ask) and never realized. I walked from the room and before they could follow I slammed the door and locked it inside out. I snickered and stuffed my hands in my pockets whistling. I heard them yelling through the door when I was downstairs and I just kept humming to myself. I remembered then, my plan was still in action. I grabbed my stuff by the door grinning stupidly not caring about the goblins' and the boys. I had my powers, flight, a few chocolate balls in my backpack and other things for safety. I ran then soaring across the sky without needing to think about it. It was so easy to pull out my wings now and set flight. Then I heard a horrendous crash from my house and an angry roar. Ah s**t. I stopped and turned to see Masuno, Naruko, and Dante all flying full speed at me with their arms outstretched and their teeth bared. All three of them had their wings spread and I noticed Dante and Naruko's wings pattern. Naruko had sharp spiky wooden wings and Dante had dark adolescent bat wings. My eyes froze in shock and with out thinking I fell. I fell to the ground and landed on my feet. I then ran as fast as I could grinning with triumph. But then I heard their loud footsteps behind me and their huffing breath. My own breath was steaming in the cool air as I puffed in and out.


    I ran as hard as I could and I didn't run out of any energy. I heard them stop, growling all the while. "Dammit" I heard Naruko mutter under his breath. "We can catch her around the bend" Dante called out and took flight with the other two not far behind. I slowed to a stop thinking, "I can turn and set them off track" and I blocked my thoughts. I could go to the bend instead! I ran then to the bend hiding in a thickly proportioned bush. Waiting to jump out and pounce on one of them. They then emerged from the thicket searching with their eyes. I stepped from the bush. "Nice running" I remarked laughing. Dante glowered at me and Naruko scoffed, "Like you were any better!" he shot back. I laughed even harder I then felt myself being pulled into the air I slapped myself again. Masuno of course. The other two were grinning at me with their arms crossed I stuck out my tongue and huffed. Wait, I could escape by breaking his grasp with my wings! I thought still blocking my thoughts. I felt my face brighten and the other two on the ground's faces turned nervous. I grinned darkly and then opened my large wings breaking the lock of Masuno's hold. I flew then without looking back laughing the whole time. "Nice try suckers!" I called after them and heard Naruko remark, "She always was quite exuberant. Never gives up that one."
