My name, Catherine Mclaine, and I’m a psychic. Reading that first sentence you might one, put down the paper or two, think that is farfetched, but hear me out. I had my powers ever since I was born. My powers allow me to see the deaths of others. When I was a baby I would cry when I had a vision. When I was in grade school I only had one friend. I lost that friend when I had a vision and told her that her mother was going to die. In high school I was freak number one. I wore nothing, but black and wore eyeliner. As I got older I decided to become a detective and put the murderers of the victims in my visions in prison. Because of my visions that technically makes me a witness to all of these crimes.
They say that before someone dies the moon turns red that is similar to the color of blood. They call it blood on the moon. Every single time I have a vision there is blood in the moon. Being a detective and a psychic of death I never really get too attached to my cases, but just a few weeks ago an interesting case came that left in the hospital. I barely survived the outcome, so if you like to know what happened read the next paragraph.
It was December 16, 2057. I was working late in my office when it happened. I had a vision. It was very blurry and all I could hear was the victims scream. Judging by the scream it was safe to say that the victim was a woman. When the vision ended I picked up the phone and dialed the number of my boss’s phone. My boss’s name was John and was a large bulky man. Through the years we had a decent relationship until he asked me out on a date. His wife had divorced him a few months before then and he wanted to make her jealous. I turned him down and our relationship has never been the same. As I waited for my boss to answer the phone I wondered if this case would be challenging. Not to toot my own horn, but I was a very intelligent person. The best on the force. When my boss answered he was very upset.
“What the heck are you doing calling me this late, Cat. I was in the middle of something.”
I laughed, “Please, John I know that you are having your fifth midnight snack by now.”
John went quiet. I knew my comment hit home. For most people home would be their heart or their mind, but for John it was his gut.
“I didn’t call to insult you John,” I said. “I called to tell you that I had a vision and that someone is going to die. Look outside your window.”
There was no sound from John....
