In the year 2873 B.C., a child was born. His being born was natural, but he was born in an unusual fashion. He was hewn from the pits of a forsaken volcano. A priest who lived at the base saw the eruption from the once dormant volcano and the baby which it spew out. Running as fast as he could, he informed the town sentry of this happening and left his post to join the priest in witnessing this happening.
With a cry that was then heard for miles across and a wind that could blow a million men back to their homes and pin them up on the walls, it began to grow rapidly. The priest, scared out of his mind fell to his knees while the sentry tried to run back to the town under the cover of his shield. Alas he tripped while crossing the ravine back to the town, he fell and broke a hole in the bridge. Falling to his inevitable death, he shouted out of the demon that approached the town so the guardsmen patrolling the gates would hear him.
“Hey, did you hear that?” A soldier inquired as he was wondering the forest that lies beyond the ravine. “Yes, in fact I did,” replied his partner “the sounds came from the ravine, we should see, maybe some twit fell and got trapped in the ravine.” But as the soldiers sauntered to the source of the noise, they were immediately blown back by a hot wind. “What was that?” The first soldier shouted strenuously to his partner, who flew into a tree behind them. “What?” Replied the second soldier, trying to find the sword that fell off his belt and somewhere into the thick underbrush.
Then, when supposedly nothing could baffle the two men more, a huge, crimson beast with long, black claws and bellowed fire through its colossal nostrils appeared. It looked down, right at the two men, who, just as the priest, stood in their places, senseless. The beast slowly knelt down, knocking over all the trees in its path, and picked up the two scared men, skewering them with his massive claws, and downed them whole.
By this time, the peasants outside of the town walls and the guardsmen could tell something of horrendous proportions was about to happen. The potato farmers ushered their children inside the crude straw and bone huts and brandished the only weapons they had. Quickly, the army of peasants had dug a crude trench to assist in fending off the unknown enemy.
Meanwhile, the children of the streets continued to rob people and play with sticks and stones and the children of nobles continued to study and pray and play. Secretly and silently, a strange man appeared at the president’s office and informed him of this strange being, known to mysticists and magicians as the reincarnation of the Guldrack. It is a being that was fought off millions of years ago when it was weaker and younger, but the hero who defeated him had not listened to the shaman of his village and refused to throw the being into the ocean to cool off and freeze and die. It crawled into a volcano and recuperated.
“It has come back to take revenge upon the descendants of the man who nearly slayed him one million, three hundred thousand years ago. I believe you are one of them, however, there is a chance you and your family can survive. You must listen to me, for it is too late for many of your family including your brothers and sisters.”
“How do you know this? Who is your informat, strange man?” The president inquired, his hands and legs trembling with cold fear. “This is none of your business, your sisters and brothers have done the same as you and ended up in the stomach of a demon that grows by the amount of bodies he devours and the souls he reaps. It will be a very unhappy family reunion if you wish it to be, the gifts will be of blood.” The strange man said in a raspy voice and pointing a bony hand at the forest that lies before the ravine.
As he pointed, a huge crimson head appeared over the horizon, the peasants who took up arms earlier froze in fear and the guardsmen looked over their shoulders before collapsing, falling on their spears. Scared like the others who saw the beast, he too froze, but the man was too wise for this. He averted his eyes from the enormous beast and dragged the president away from the window where he regained consciousness. He then immediately cried out to the man “What in god’s name is that?” The man explained that whoever looks at the Guldrack will freeze up not only in fear, but by his power to do so. “You and your men are useless and will just fall beneath his huge feet.
The residents of the town now knew of this monster and began to hide in their homes and climbed into shelters. Laughing children on bicycles now turned into masses of devastated juveniles heading for crevasses in large buildings and small holes in the ground. The noise increased as the entity sauntered to the gates of the small town, skewering and devouring the entrenched peasants and dead guardsmen. Charging out of the gates were the rest of the soldiers clad in armor and atop horses. Screaming and shouting was then accompanied by a deathly silence and the people of the small town began to flee and create pandemonium.
As all of life seemed to end for the people of the town, the monster stopped and looked at the people he was killing. Suddenly, a huge wind from the monster’s nostrils and between his teeth was let out upon the people, starting fires on the thatched roofs of shops, homes and even the president’s residence. The man then told the president of the town to not fear, but to thank god and wield the dagger the man would then hand him. With that and the power of the almighty, he said, the president should be able to weaken the creature enough for the man to walk out onto the fields and say a spell which will banish him back into the underworld and remove him of his powers.
All of a sudden there was a bright light which appeared to have come from god himself. The small rusty dagger in the president’s hand grew and started to glisten and glow. Its luminosity was spotted by the demon, who, in turn, jumped miles into the sky and disappeared above the clouds and remained there for minutes. The students from the university came out of hiding and the children from their crevasses and insects from their burrows and nests, mistaking the demon to be gone.
Mourning for their lost ones and wheeling them off to hospitals to be marked and used to design medicines and surgical equipment. The man put a spell on the president and then took a quarter from his desk and clasped it. A light glowed from between his fingers and then he placed the resulting item on his arm, burning a mark which then made him immune to the effects of the demon and its poison. Writing a note in a bottle and leaving it on the president’s desk, he took flight. Groceries from peoples’ cellars were stocked and the residents left the town, orderly and silent. Just then, the ground received another jolt and the skies turned red as far as the eye could see.
It came back from the skies in a hurling ball of fire wielding a ring on his index finger. Screaming, the people fell to the ground as the demon shoveled them up and ingested them by the dozen. Then, a flash appeared on the keep behind the left gate and the president appeared. He was holding on to the shining sword and wore untanned leather inscribed with words that glowed blue every time the sword moved.
The two being then charged at each other, weapons brandished and eyes ablaze. The buildings began to burn more furiously now and the president’s residence exploded in a cloud of dollars and burned papers and pictures. The two met in mid air, slashing claws and swinging sword collided with a tremendous clap that resonated through the forest and valleys and mountains, sending birds into the air everywhere. Winds collided to make tornadoes that surrounded the two. Just then, the sword crept between the claws of the bleeding demon and struck him in the heart.
Shrill screams that busted the eardrums of everyone in the vicinity escaped from the demon’s mouth and the spirits and souls of his victims poured out of his eyes and ears. The president then fell to his knees, the scar on his arm disappeared and the leather disappeared to show a tired, sweaty and bloody man showed. Flashing and falling from the sky, the mysterious man reappeared to send the freak off to another world and the world seemed to end for a moment. Then, came serenity, the clouds slowly returned to its cerulean hue, the survivors came to and returned to yelling and fighting and playing in the streets. The president woke up in his bed covered in pine boughs and inscribed on his eyelids was the secret he unknowingly swore to keep the demon unknown and under control. By his side was the dagger and his urn with his wife’s spirit and soul. “God bless me!” he shouted in joy. At that moment, the heavens opened and struck the president in the head, killing him, and then threw him into the pits of hell, forever having to fight off the demon he helped banish.
