Whispers in the Dark {Ch. 2}
-
-Dris POV-
She looks frightened, Dris thought to himself. He tried to avert his eyes from this human, his enemy. Her eyes, her lips, her hair, her beautiful and glorious skin - it all appealed to him. Not just vampiricly, but also arousing. If he were still human, still the nineteen year old that he should still be today, he would have known what to expect when aroused. He sighed and finally looked away, though he still felt her staring.
Dris' fangs shined in the sweet moonlight that was just barely approaching. It was their turn to fight and the humans would go to bed. The vampires and the weres would go at it. He could tell that the humans had been fighting long. They were sweaty and hot smelling. Any of the vampires could pick that out right away.
He ran a hand through his cool, brown locks and looked away from the scene. He, especially, did not want to be here. Why couldn't they just sign a treaty like they always had before? Why couldn't things go back to normal? Night was taking over slowly and he lost track of the girl. That girl, with the beautiful black tresses and the pretty green eyes. If I had my way she would be my bride.
A "whap" at the back of his head sent him sailing out of his daydreams, "Attention!" A silky, dark voice said. A tall, white haired man stood in front of him - the vampire General. His complexion was snowy and his eyes were black as orchids. He grinned, his teeth reflecting the light. Dris smiled half-heartedly and got back to work.
Something told him he would see the girl again before the war had been fought. Something told him... He shook his head, trying to concentrate now. A lone human was struggling out of the dirt, blood ran down his leg or at least what was left of it. A were had chewed part of it off just below the knee. Dris crouched and pounced ending up right beside the young man.
"You wish to know death, I see it in your eyes. Unfortunately, I cannot give that to you," his voice was husky. Bending his neck, Dris' lips touched the man's throat. He'd gone stone silent and hadn't moved. Dris' fangs had made purchase and punctured through the well-built skin. Blood ran out of two perfect holes on the man's throat. He lifted up and then fell back in the dirt paralyzed for now.
Dris stood and leaned over, rolling the man into his arms. "Got another one," he called over his shoulder to any of the vampires that were listening. Slowly, they were building up their army again. "You will tell me secrets of that fair skinned maiden." Dris whispered and turned back into the darkness.
