Chapter One- Sins of Youth
The sound of flames crackled throughout the village of Kuzar, most of the huts of hay ablaze. Screams and clashing steel could be heard as the citizens fell one by one to their bloody demise. Bodies of men, women, and children littered the blood-soaked dirt, as men in full gray armour dashed about with longswords and guns. They all wore identical armour, 'Knights' in the most perverse sense. Every piece of armour, from helm to boot, was stamped with the Imperial Insignia.
For swords, they held iron longswords with bronze hilts. The blades were red with bloody already. Rangers used black rifles that fired Etheria, an inexhaustible energy source. One simply needed to give the gun time to cooldown after firing long bursts.
As 'Knights' slaughtered villagers in gruesome fashion, one 'Knight' stood before the village next to a general on a steed. The general wore a green shirt with billowing dark green pants. Drawn onto the fabric was the Insignia. The general's horse was dark brown with red eyes and a black mane.
The 'Knight' wore pure black armour not unlike the other 'Knights', but with shoulder pads of black steel. On it's back was a long lance of black steel, which branched into three prongs at the end.
The general spoke to the Black Knight in a grisly tone, the general's black hair ruffling with the wind, his yellow eyes glaring.
"Now then, you know what to do. Lord Greil likes it when you do your job."
The Knight's helmet turned to the general and spoke in an echoing voice.
"But they are innocents with who the traitor hides amongst."
"Do I look concerned about your... morals?" the general asked.
"Morals or not, this isn't right. These are defenseless people and children!'
"They have given quarter to the enemy, and that is punishable by death. Now then, go! Lest you answer to Lord Greil." the general commanded, as the Knight slowly lumbered into the village.
Within minutes, the Knight had wandered to a cowering family: man, woman, and two small children. The man stood up, shakily stretching his arms out as if a barrier.
"You can n-not kill them... I w-won't let you!" he said, visibly shaking. The Knight sneered at him.
"Step aside of face certain annihilation."
"Never!" the man said defiantly. A long steel lance found it's way into the man's chest at this point, causing blood to flow as well as everyone's screams. The Knight lifted the lance, screaming man and all, into the air, spinning it 180 degrees and slamming it into the ground, causing the man to fall off into his own pool of blood. The Knight then slashed the rest of the family to death, it's lance soaked in plasma and life force.
The Knight cut a bloody swath through the village, slaying all who stood in it's way. The Knight impaled a man on it's lance and slashed another, then it released the man impaled, his body slamming onto the ground. The Knight's armour was bathed in blood nearly as much as the lance, as the Knight proceeded towards a hut mystically unaffected by the flames around it.
"Hmm... How strange... Lord Greil said the traitor was a mage." The Knight said as it opened the reed curtain and entered.
A man in pure white was sitting against the wall in a fetal position, clutching some parchment.
"Izorn Fremont, you are hereby under arrest for treason." came the Knight's voice, strong and commanding.
"W-what? W-wait.... I.... I k-know you!" Izorn said shakily. "You're Wolfe, the Knight of Midnight!" His voice was as shaky as his figure.
Wolfe laughed hollowly, shaking off his statement like a fly. "The sentence is death. Accept your retribution!" Wolfe said, unsheathing the soaked lance.
"N-no, please d-don't... I haven't done anything, I-I'm innocent!" he said loudly. "I swear I-I haven't done anyth-" his speech was cut off by his scream, which pierced the general malestrom of noise that was Kuzar. Wolfe's lance had gone through Izorn's chest, blood pouring out like a waterfall of wine.
Izorn's robe, no longer white, tore at the impact spot as Wolfe pulled the lance out. The parchment Izorn once held fluttered into Wolfe's outstretched gauntlet.
"Izorn Fremont is to be admitted to the Raen Asylum in Peria City. He will be analyzed for a disturbed personality and to have claims of planned Regicide evaluated.
Signed, Lord Greil."
"So, he was an escapee... Hmm..." But as Wolfe turned to leave, the scene became fuzzy and blacked out.
