Interlude
I knew I was dying, and that I could do nothing. I glanced down to see the many wounds from the bullets that pierced my chest. Looking at the floor I could see the large pool of crimson-red blood on the cold concrete floor. I looked back at the wounds that were centimeters from each other. The wounds oozed slowly with blood, rhythmically pumping out of my body, and draining onto the floor.
My life is done. I guess I am not needed here anymore, I thought to myself somberly as I tried to ignore the pain exploding throughout my chest.
I then felt light-headed and tired as the wounds stopped oozing out blood, and began to close my eyes, thinking this would be the last time I would.
Quickly I was engulfed in abyss black darkness, and then to my amazement the darkness dispersed as quickly as it appeared, to reveal a comforting brightness.
“Your time has not come yet, Cyrus.” A voice whispered to me in a calm, quiet tone.
“Then why am I dead?” I replied very puzzled and shocked.
“You’re not,” It whispered to me in that same tone. I was about to reply when I noticed I was face up in an alleyway. I looked around confused even more lying on my back. I quickly looked down at where my wounds were.
“What happened?” I whispered stunned to see that my wounds were completely healed; it looked as if it was just little indents in my chest.
“Where am I?” I said out loud even more puzzled when I remember I was lying on a concrete floor just a few minutes ago. I slowly got up on my feet, pushing against the cold walls of the alley to get up. I looked up into the sky after walking out of the alleyway, and saw that the sun was majestically rising up to take its throne. I smiled as I then began to turn to my right and walk down the street.
