• It was dark outside as Selene retreated to her large bedroom. They had just moved into this really old house Selene, her mother, and her father. The parents were really big on superstition and they weren’t really all that fond of Selene’s black cat Sadies. Selene couldn’t help it she had always had a special connection with animals. She was just starting to fall asleep when a knock at the front door sounded. It was very faint considering the distance between her room and the gallery. Selene snuck out of her bed and tiptoed to the stairway. “Mister Clevey.”a voice said in greeting to Selene’s father. “Please come in.” her father said though he didn’t sound all that happy. “Thank you.” The voice replied as a man and a tall boy about 17 or 18 walked in. “Please let us retire to the foyer.” Her mother said quietly. They made there way slowly to the foyer with first her mother then her father the strange man and then the boy. As they passed the man merely glanced in her direction the boy on the other hand stopped and stared at her for a minute. Selene felt a shiver run down her back as his eyes seemed to look straight into her soul. “Micheal.” The mans voice called softly. The boy stared at her for another minute before walking into the foyer. Selene was frozen in shock his gaze ad held hers so precisely and so powerfully she had been unable to look away. She shook her head before turning and going back up the stairs. She changed from her tank top and her shorts to a pair of black Capri cargos and a violet purple tank top. Slowly she descended the stairs. The man and her mother and father were arguing quietly while the boy sat listening his fingertips pressed together as he thought. Selene waited at the door for them to notice her almost immediately the boy stood his eyes already on her. His sudden movement made the man and her parents look up. “Selene…” her father said but before he could speak another word the man stepped forward. “It is an honor.” He said bowing slightly Micheal remained standing until Selene had walked forward and seated herself in the opposite chair. Even quieter than before the three began arguing again. At this Selene rolled her eyes and gestured for Micheal to follow her. He stood and she lead the way to the kitchen. “God that gets on my nerves always arguing.” Selene said grabbing two sodas from the fridge. She handed one to Micheal. “Thanks.” He muttered o quietly he seemed not to have spoken at all. “Your welcome.” Selene replied nodding. Silently they both opened there sodas and sat down at the table. “Is that your dad?” Selene asked curiously. Micheal hesitated looking her over then slowly shook his head. “You don’t talk much do you?” Selene said. “Once I get to know someone you would be surprised at how talkative I am.” He said with a slight accent. Selene jumped in surprise for she had not expected him to reply. He looked at her with a slight grin on his face which made his features unusually overly attractive. “You didn’t expect me to answer did you?” he said matter-of-factly. Selene shook her head all of a sudden overly shy. ’wow he has a great smile.’ She thought as he smiled a little. “If you don’t mind me asking why are you and the other guy here?” Selene asked. Micheal looked startled now as if it were completely obvious. “Didn’t they tell you?” He asked. “Tell me what?” Selene asked confused. “Okay your telling me that those people in there who call themselves your parents haven’t even told you why we’re here?” Micheal demanded a note of anger in his voice. “Apparently so can you like fill me in here doc?” Selene asked sitting back in her chair. Micheal stared at her for a minute then calmly and quietly said “Jason we have a problem.” Selene was about to speak when the other man appeared at Micheal’s side. Selene’s eyes widened. “They haven’t told her.” Micheal said quietly squeezing the brim of his nose with his forefinger and his middle finger. “Helen. Jacob.” The one called Jason shouted. Selene’s mother and father walked in. “What’s going on?” Selene demanded her eyes wide in apparent terror. Her father didn’t speak but instead stared at the floor. “I believe she should decide for herself considering she doesn’t know.” Jason said scathingly. “Explain.” Selene demanded staring straight at Micheal. He stared at her for a full minute before rising and walking around the table toward her. He pushed her chair away from the table then took hold of each of her hands. He pressed them to the arms of the chair and held them down as he bent and stared into her eyes. “No I forbid you to do that.” Jacob snarled. Micheal looked at him. “You have no right to speak to me that way nor do you have any authority over me. He snapped. Once again he turned his eyes back to Selene. She struggled and refused to meet his eyes. “Selene look at me.” He whispered. “Let go of me and I will.” She said shakily. He hesitated then slowly let her go. “Give us a minute alone.” He ordered. The three retreated with Selene’s mother sobbing. Once they were gone Micheal took a deep breath. “I was born in 1796 in a small town on Romania. When I was 18 years old I was put in the Romanian army. I served as a corporal the youngest ever to have been recruited. Well one night as I stumbled drunkenly down a dark alley way I came across a woman. Her name was Ascilla. I don’t remember quiet well what happened for in time human memories fade.” He explained. “That means your like almost a thousand years old.” Selene whispered. Micheal nodded and dragged the chair over to sit close to her. “Like I said human memories fade. Well I awoke the next morning and found that not only was my heart not beating but my senses were so much more enhanced, and I was actually alive. Well then a man by the name of Count Vain found me. He took me in as his son. He told me of vampires. At first I didn’t believe him then he told me of the blood diet and yea that convinced me of what I was…what I am.” he said. “A…a vampire??” Selene said slowly getting to her feet. Micheal nodded. Suddenly Selene bolted for the door…and he was suddenly there in front of her. She pivoted and ran toward the back door. “You can’t run from me” he said appearing in front of her again. She turned toward the pantry and shut herself in. Micheal ripped the door from its hinges just by grabbing it. “Nor can you fight me off.” He said bending down to look her in the eyes. Selene tensed every muscle in her body as she stared at him. Slowly he reached out and took her hand and pulled her to her feet. “I wont hurt you.” He promised. “Finish your story she whispered pulling lifting herself up onto the counter. “I found out later that he’s the leader of the clan known as Black Claw and I’m his son so I’m the prince. Years ago a baby girl was born to another clan known as Frost Blood. The only problem was that when she was born instead of being born a vampire she was of another race known as the Vlenons. They are an advanced race that has one form of each race. I was betrothed to her that when she came of age I was to marry her. A clan by the name of Geams attacked her village and the entire was wiped out. I had kidnapped the little girl to put my mark on her naming her mine so that if anything ever happened I would know were to find her. Well my father made a deal with this man and woman whom couldn’t have a child. The deal was that they would raise her as there own but they would never hide her true identity from her, and here we are 17 years later with me explaining.” He said glaring at the door. “You don’t know that I’m the girl what kind of mark?” she asked. “A mark on the right shoulder of a small rose design like this one.” He said taking off his jacket and pointing to his shoulder. Selene’s eyes widened in shock as he then touched her shoulder in the same place. “That doesn’t mean anything it could be just a coincidence.” Selene said stepping back from his touch. “Selene just admit it you aren’t so sure of yourself.” He said. “Okay that made no since at all.” Selene said turning her back to him. “You know your different Selene you’ve always sensed you didn’t belong here but somewhere else. You sense it and I know you do because I feel your doubt.” He said walking up behind her. Selene moved to the window and stared out into the darkness. “I’ve always felt….different. My parents have always looked at me with a strange expression. Yes I do have a little doubt that I belong with them Micheal but this is all coming from a boy…no a man I don’t even know anything about.” Selene hissed turning on Micheal. He startled her by being not even an inch behind her and she found herself merely centimeters from his face. He stared at her for a full minute before speaking. “You don’t have to decide today or might I say tonight but I will come again Selene Frostblood. I will follow you and I will wait until you decide to come on your own.” He stated staring into her eyes. Selene stared him down. “I look forward to seeing you again.” He said stepping back with a mysterious and evil smile. Selene said nothing as Jason walked in. “We’re leaving.” Micheal stated simply. “What without her? Micheal you know Kale…” Jason started to protest but Micheal cut him off. “Selene is in no danger as long as she is protected.” He snapped. Jason nodded. They turned and made there way quickly to the door. Selene followed and shut the door behind them.
When they had descended the steps Micheal grabbed Jason. “She doesn’t leave your sight. Her safety is all that matters to me. If anything happens to her Jason Black Claw I swear on my fathers throne I will hunt you down and kill you myself.” Micheal snarled. “”Understood sir.” Jason said nodding. Micheal released Jason and looked back toward the house to see Selene arguing with the people she called parents. “Sir if I may why is Kale after her?” Jason asked. “She’s my only chance at having a successor to my throne to be a full blood royal and it’s her only chance to keep her bloodline going.” Micheal explained. “And the powers are they true the rumors I’ve heard about her being a powerful shifter?” Jason asked curiously. “That I do not know Jason she’s been raised believing she is someone she’s not, but to be completely honest she’s interesting she didn’t just mold like putty in my hands the way others do. I want to know why she was able to stare me down.” He said turning and taking off. “Go home Jason I’ll stay tonight.” Micheal said. Jason sighed and obeyed.
Selene couldn’t help the flow of anger she felt toward Helen and Jacob. “You lied to me!!!” Selene shouted. Helen couldn’t speak so she merely sobbed. “We’re sorry.” Jacob whispered. Selene hissed and stomped out annoyed she ran up to her room and laid out on her bed and cried. It was about midnight when she finally awoke. “Ugh I freakin cried myself to sleep.” She muttered to herself. She got up splashed a little water on her face then crawled out onto the bit of roof right outside her window. She sat there staring at the moon and didn’t notice when a figure appeared on the roof behind her. “You like the moon?” a voice asked Selene whirled to see Micheal standing there. He look amazing in the traveling cloak he wore with the moon silhouetting his form. Selene stood. “I’m coming with you.” She said. “I knew you would.” He said with a wide grin. “I’ll admit I’m a little curious.” Selene said bluntly. “Curiosity killed the cat you know.” e said circling her. “But satisfaction brought it back.” She shot back as Sadies padded out onto the roof next to her. He purred and rubbed against her legs. Micheal chuckled. “I see it did didn’t it Sadies.” He said squatting and snapping his fingers at Sadies. Sadies meowed and practically ran over to Micheal. “Well if your coming we should probably get you there shouldn’t we.” He said winking at Sadies. There was a blinding flash and suddenly in Sadies place was a black panther instead of a house cat. “Oh…..my……God!!” Selene gasped. Micheal swung up onto his back. Sadies turned once Micheal was in place and padded slowly over to Selene. She backed up a step when he crouched in front of her and muzzled her chin with his nose. “He’s devoted his life to you Selene.” Micheal said as she stroked his neck. Micheal held his hand out to her and waited till she took it before hoisting her up behind him. “Hold on.” He said. Selene wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and held on tightly making him laugh. Sadies crouched them sprung off the roof to the ground.
