It was a lovely evening, fresh air, wondrous lights, and dazzling parties filtered the streets of West Cunning burg. It was 1952 , June third, the time of the black parades. The black parades were ceremonies to worship the dark gods of harmony Yu,ZI,Olimar, and Octavios. In June on these festivals, people would sacrifice their most precious belongings at the time. Some may sacrifice a nickel, others a mockingbird , and extremists sacrificed their own children. Also, the black parades would be hosted by selected people from the churches that townsfolk went to each Sunday. I did not attend such churches…. Nor did I heed the black parades. I had nothing to give up, I had a different viewpoint from my neighbors; They lived in the moment, abided current rules and regulations, they seemed like little puppets controlled by the media, willing to do anything to fit in. I could never be that way, I was too stuck in the past. I would keep myself locked in my house, just sitting around switching gazes from my Polaroid to the window that hung above my desk.
Ahh, what you say was on the Polaroid was so important to me. Well, to the human eye there was nothing to see in it because it was a blurred photo, burned by a fire it was. There was not much left of the picture other than the story behind it. The story that so many times I thought of locked up in my home, I can’t count the times I’ve starred into that picture, seeing something no ordinary human got to see the truth and reality to this Polaroid picture. It told me about my parents that I had lost many years ago. It told me to have hope, picture may be said to say a thousand words but to me this one said only three: don’t give up. So that was my initiative goal on life, and not just that but overall goal for today the beginning of the black parades. Today I would end my hiding spree. I had to if I had anything to believe in. I had to go on.. Today as the town’s people crowded the streets cheering and throwing there belongings into the road, I would step out of my front gates to join them in their absurdity.
