the soldiers stood restlessly outside the old housing complex. In a small network of deteriorated buildings that were to be a shipping company dock. They we're walking around wondering why they were sent out into the middle of nowhere. Sitting there, Bored out of their minds. The only fun they ever seemed to have was shooting the stupid birds that seemed to forget in a matter of seconds that they held deadly weapons.. They glanced up at the lone soldier sitting on the billboard for the shipping company has been closed long before the war even happened. it seemed like a cruel joke to civilians. but to the soldiers. it was just a everyday joke.
A single soldier left the group. He sat on the edge of the cliff that overhung the dark waters that lead to the sicking green sea.
He wondered when he will be able to go back to the city. He was pulled out of the train car because of a routine stop that was just a way for them to kidnap men and turn them into. He did not want to think about it. He was ment to be back in that city so long ago. He missed his wife so much that it almost feed himself to the razor leeches down below, Ending his sad life. but the dream of going back to his wife kept him alive.
The soldier was fed up with sitting up here on the blasted sign. Keeping an eye on the deserted bridge and watching the turn that nobody has traveled on for more then a decade. It made him wonder why he even enlist to be a soldier. They always stuck him with lookout duty. He was the best shot on the team. But no they don't give him the blasted sniper. They give him the stupid shotgun. Sometimes He wish that everybody would die. But that made him wonder when they would come and get him down. He was starving. They had left him up here for three days without even giving him food rations. He had enough torture from his fellow squad mates. He stood up, Shaking the soreness out of his legs. He waved to his squad mates to help him down from the billboard when he felt his body getting torn apart from his soul and pinned to the faded letter on the sign. Alarmed and stunned. He started to feel himself slip away. He tried to scream but a second painful blast silenced him.
The soldiers stood unaware as metal bars flew through the air. The first few deaths were of surprise. Maybe another avalanche or one felt that he could not take the suffering anymore and killed his squad mates before taking his own life. But when the squad leaders heart monitor flat-lined left and right. The soldiers went into frenzy. Soldiers ran everywhere, Unknowingly running to their unpreventable doom. A large group of soldiers ran inside one of the houses that was left for the workers in the company who had no family to go to. The lone figure slowly walked across the bridge. Crossbow slightly moving with every soft step. The figure slowly spun around. Taking quick aim towards a shed where a soldier was about to take aim. A soft thud was heard through out the compound. A sharp hiss from the reloading of the crossbow. The figure slowly moved towards the house. Taking a quick glance towards the windows incase any fools dared showed their face.

alone the man sat.
wondering when he will come through that door.
when will he end his life.
will it be painless?
will it be quick?
he just wanted to be back at the city with his wife.
but it was that. or the prison.
right now the prison was not looking so bad.

Time passed slowly for the lone soldier. He checked the heart monitors of his squad mates. There was a deafening noise. To many flat-lines. He quickly silenced his helmet. he prayed it was just a stupid joke from one of the higher ups. they loved to pull jokes every now and then.

" Anybody, come on guys. its no time for a joke! "

hours later at night . he was beginning to wonder if backup would ever come and fetch him. they must of known that he was the only person left. did they know? he walked over to the skid marks where the man had pushed the transport vehicle off the cliff. guessing by wild chance. to his surprise the vehicle was in a surprisingly good condition. to his guess . maybe the radio still worked. quickly running back to the compound he fetched the longest piece of rope he could find. when he walked back to the cliff he noticed that night was starting to fall and if he wanted to be saved. he needed to be quick. wrapping the rope around a tree. he quickly began to rappelling down the cliff. it was not long before he was i reach of the car. it was just out of his reach. he figured he could swing to it. as he began to swing back and forth trying to reach the vehicle. the rocks began to slowly cut the rope. just as he grabbed into the vehicle . the rope was severed. he fell in. his hand slipped. the sickening screech of the leaches. the horrible sound of his armor being torn off him. he closed his eyes and started to grab onto something. anything. his hand reached into the vehicle and turned on the radio. the tuner found a station. a old one. one that was never shut down. he slowly drifted off as the razor leaches ripped through him. his mind drifting off to the day he had his first dance with the woman he loved. that wonderful song. their song.
