There have been tales of a warrior with hair blazened red.
There have been tales of a world a terrible distance away.
There have been tales of that world being right by our side.
There have been tales of faint music, dancing around your face when you are near.
There have been tales of adventurers escaping our world, into the paradise.
Having heard these stories, an adventurer simply by the name of Steven went to search for this world. To pursue the red warrior's legacy. He decided he'd leave his world for the paradise he's envied for so long.
As he exited the boundaries of his adopted hometown, he soon was faced a fantastic light. It came as white, but the sensation on his skin felt like burning orange fire, charred black, cool green. He came to the conclusion he may be going blind.
He also found his body had become numb. However, he felt his body lose weight, and his shadow-like hair swept up up in a wind. Falling. He was falling. But he didn't panic. His standing position slowly leaned into a nosedive. Shadows were appearing on the ground below. Shadows. He could see again. His shadow was below, but there were multiple others joined at play. Others with wings, circling the platform.
As he was about to make impact, another flash came over his senses. He blinked, blinked again, and blinked once more. He was standing. Scanning the area, he realized he was on an elevated area, a platform in the sky, unsuspended. Owls were hovering in the sky, forever in a cycle, chasing eachother.
A new shadow appeared. It grew bigger, bigger, bigger. Steven lifted his head, and saw a figure falling after him. A woman. A woman with blindingly white hair, pale, yet fair skin, and a black dress that contrasted well with her complexion. With a light step, she had landed mere steps in front of Steven. He approached.
The woman mouthed words unheard, but the adventurer understood it all. Directions on how to live. Directions on how to survive. Owls swooped down and dropped items into the boy's hands. A journal and a loaf of bread. Gifts, he knew. Three more words escaped her small lips - Nao Mariota Pryderi. After her introduction, he was compelled to share his own name. He didn't though, as his heart knew she'd be reunited with him. She extended her arm, and he reached out. One last light came over the two.
Visions of a village surged into his head. A village with a stream running down a field. A village with strangers he knew so well. A village with buildings, never locked. A village devoid of sound, yet bursting with life. A village he knew would be his new home. Music enveloped his body, his mind, his soul.
He opened his eyes, revealing a hill. He was standing at the top, on a strange arced structure, made from black stone. Wildlife were all around. Playing, loving, fighting. His hair could be partially seen over his face. His ebony hair had turned a silvery-violet. A natural sheen gleamed into his eyes. Above his head, he discovered 7 letters. Letters he could call his own. This world acknowledged him as this name, rather than his own.
He smiled.
