Most people think Iceland is covered with ice. However, that’s not true. Iceland is home to trees and lots of other plants, and even some volcanoes.

John woke from his sleep to a thunderous rumbling sound. He lived in a small four room house in Reykjavik, Iceland. He stumbled out of his crowded bedroom to his living room. A fluorescent red glow was coming from his windows. The rumbling grew louder and louder and John began to a cracking noises. The room suddenly felt smaller. A huge crack formed on his ceiling and an ominous creaking noise started. The red glow grew darker. The last thing John saw was the ceiling collapsing on top of him.
John woke up and his vision was blurry. It looked like he was standing in a pit of tar. Everything around him looked like rocks, except for a tree with leaves the color of pupils. He tried to understand what was going on, but he couldn’t come to any logical conclusion. John felt a sudden sharp pain in the back of his neck and he blanked out again.
In his sleep he heard the sound of a helicopter.
“Take him.” A voice commanded.
When John awoke next he was in some sort of metal cell. There was nothing around him but a miniature shelf with a glass of water on it. He was lying on a platform that felt like cardboard, but appeared to be metal. It was incredibly crowded inside the cell, but he fit in it well. He couldn’t hear anything but he guessed he was moving. The metal on his sides was as cold as ice, and he started a to sweat. How was he supposed to get out? Would he die here? Where was he? What was happening? All these questions swam around in John’s head, but no answer came. Slowly, John drifted back into sleep.
Wham! A sudden jolt of the container forced John upright. He heard the sound of metal grinding against metal. The cell he was in became upright and another grinding sound began. He saw a metal panel he was now standing on start to fold back. He was being dumped like garbage! He tried to stay inside the container by forcing his arms and legs again the walls of the container. He managed to catch a glimpse of a glass building he was about to fall onto. The walls started folding back and he no longer could hold on. He began to plunge towards the glass building. The glass top of the building grew closer and closer until John shattered through the surprisingly thin glass. He could feel cuts all over his body until he hit the ground.
After what might have been days, John woke up. He was in a relatively large room with black tiles covering the entire thing, except or a shattered glass ceiling and a pearl-white door. Was he being tortured? He didn’t have much of a choice other than to enter the door. What do I have to lose? For a moment he thought of climbing the tile walls to get through the glass, but it was too far up to risk. He shoved the pearl door open with ease. He saw a group of people inside. Maybe they know something, he thought. He let the white door close and entered the room. It was huge, probably as big as the coliseum of Rome. There were about fifty doors surrounding him, each of a different shade of color. The room was most grey in color. Everyone in the room he could identify as someone from his hometown, and they all looked very confused. Everyone was standing by a door, as was he. No one was talking or anything, so John opened his mouth to say something. “What’s going on?!” He mouthed. John tried to say something else, or cry in distress, but he couldn’t talk. He looked around him. Everyone’s eyes were fixated on a golden throne that had appeared out of nowhere. A figure emerged out of the wall where the throne had appeared.
The man, or whatever it was, was wearing a standard suit, but here his head might have been, there was nothing but a black outline of a head.
“Attention.” The voice from the figured boomed, “You are all here for a common reason,” It proclaimed, “There has been a war declared between Europe and North America. We were attacked by there bombs a day ago, and the bombs ignited a freak chain reaction from the volcanoes. This base is all of what’s left of Iceland. However, all you people in this room are presumed dead, and the other 200,000 are. You are the survivors. Consider yourself lucky. However, you all suffer of a disease called Nucleopneumonosilicovolcanoniosis which is caused by the mixture of nuclear radiation and volcanic ash in your body. We only have one antidote for it, as it is very hard to produce. So only one out of the fifty of you will live. How this will be decided is simple, you will be put in labs to create a weapon powerful enough to wipe out North America, whoever’s weapon is the most effective gets the antidote.”
A deadly silence fell over the room as the speech ended. “This is ridiculous! You can’t deal with war like this!” Someone screamed. The figure on the throne said nothing. “AAAUGH!” The same person screeched as a metal spike impaled them though the chest. The spike had just come out of the wall like the throne. Blood had covered the green door where the person had stood. Their limp body fell to the ground with a thud. The point had been made. They had no choice. They would create a weapon. Everyone one in the room’s face was now a pale white color. This is insane! Mused John. The golden throne then descended back into the wall.
