I find myself in a dark forest. Trees, hundreds of feet tall, tower high above my head. Far away and out of sight, I can just make out the sound of a stream, trickling along it's path, over and under rocks in it's way.
With nowhere else to go, I make my way through the forest, following the sound of the stream. The forest is filled with silence, minus the sound of the gurgling stream. I look above me me and can make out the blue sky and the bright light of the mid-day sun.
I continue walking and making my way through bushes and stepping over tree roots. I finally come to a small clearing, with a small stream flowing through the center. Without thinking, I walk up to the stream. I kneel down beside it and I look down at my reflection. I touch the surface of the water with my index finger and the girl with long, wavy, dark brown hair with gray eyes ripples and disappears.
All of a sudden, a strong wind blows through the clearing. My hair rises and whips at my face. I close my eyes tight and cover my head. This is when I normally wake up, but I need to see what happens next. But, just as soon as it started, the wind stopped completely.
My arms fall to my sides and I rise to my feet. I soon realize I am no longer alone in the clearing. My eyes dart to the edge of it, where a low growing tree stands apart from the rest. Leaning against the trunk, is a boy. A boy my age to be specific.
"We finally meet. It only took half a dozen tries." He gives me a mocking smile.
I stand there, unable to speak. I open my mouth to try, but no words come out. I see by his face that this amuses him even more. Anger flashes through me.
"Who are you?!"
His smile fades and his face becomes stern and serious.
"You like to get straight to the point, I see."
"And I see you like to stall as long as you can," I said bitterly
Silence falls upon the clearing. The only sounds are the stream, my soft breathing, and the pounding of my heart.
He finally replies in a cold voice, "You have much to learn Thelia."
My eyes widen. He knows my name. My awful, awful name at that.
The boy gives me a grim smile as if he knew what I was thinking. "You aren't normal, Thelia. There is more to our lives than meets the eye. An it's not only you. Your brother too."
"What....What are you talking about?!" I was tired of this guy already, but now that he brought Alex into this, he was going to see the full potential of my anger.
The boy sighs. "You have to figure it out on your own, but I'm sure you'll figure it out."
I was taken aback at how sincere his words were. I blink and shake myself mentally. I look at him. I mean really look at him and I finally notice his appearance. His dirty blonde hair that gets in his eyes. Eyes dark as the forest around us. The laid-back way he leans against the tree.
When I"m finally able to speak, my voice doesn't come out the way I'd hoped. "W-who are you?"
He smiles and takes a few steps toward me. "I am someone sent to help you. And to worn you. You and your brother are in potential danger. I advise you find out the....secret before it's too late."
Before I can get another word out, the sharp wind returns. I cover my head instinctively, but soon, the dream unravels and everything goes black.
