• Chapter 2

I felt warm hands lifting my face. “Can you hear me Angel?”, Rian asked.

I tried to open my eyes, but my eyelids wouldn’t budge. “Mhmm.”, that was all I could do to let him know I was listening.

“At least she’s not unconscious, yet.”, the woman didn’t sound too friendly. She shuffled through something, “Got it.”

“What is that?”, Rian asked, his voice trembling.

“Just something to stop the bleeding, you’re going to have to hold her head tightly.”

“Is it going to hurt her?”

“Definitely, that’s why you’re going to have to hold her head, unless you’d rather get someone else to help me your highness.”

Rian sighed, “No, I can hold her head.”

His grip tightened and then I felt a burning sensation on my head, it seemed to get more and more intense until I thought I couldn’t handle it anymore, then it slowly started to fade.

    “She should be fine now.”

I opened my eyes as the burning ceased, just to see Rian’s pained expression. “You can let go now. I’m fine.”

He released my head. “You surprised me princess.”

I looked up at the woman. “How’s that?”

She smirked, “You didn’t scream. Unlike some of the strongest men in our kingdom.”

“My mother and father didn’t raise a weakling.”

“Oh I know.”, Rian said with a smirk.

I gave him an evil grin, “I’m sure you do. That’s why you had to capture me in the middle of the night.”

He rolled his eyes, “Whatever. So she’s alright now Helen?”

“Yes, but I will need to check her again in a few hours.”

    “Should we move her?”

Helen shook her head, “No, she is a captive after all. You know all captives are supposed to stay in their cells, unless they‘re requested to be moved by your parents”

“Well can you at least unlock me so I can go to the bathroom without having to scream to get someone to unlock me when I need to go?”

Helen looked down at me, “Well, I guess so, as long as you don’t try to escape.”

“Seeing as how escaped captives are killed, I don’t think I’ll be too much trouble.”

“Fine. Go ahead and unlock her Rian.”

Rian reached over my head and unlocked my wrists, then the shackles around my ankles.

“There, now lets go.”, Helen said to Rian.

They left and locked the door behind them. Finally I had a minute to process everything that just happened…

First: Rian was looking at me pained. That was really odd, I thought he didn’t want me anymore after I caught him with that second-rate bimbo.

Second: What on earth do Rian’s parents want with me? Are they just pissed because I broke up with their son? Probably not, all the monarchs of this awful country cared about was their image.

Finally: How am I going to get out of here? The door is locked and I’m sure they have guards posted not far from my door, and the window is barred.

I began to think up a plan and hurried to the window, the top and bottom of the bars were held to the frame with an old and crusting adhesive. My smile got wider, I knew how I was getting out, all I had to do was scrape away the adhesive.

I pulled out all of my hairpins and let my glowing white hair fall around my waist. I started to pick at the bars with the first pin and the flakes started to fall. I started to laugh quietly to myself, this would be too easy.

Suddenly I heard the locks on my door begin to release.
