A slight wind was blowing, as a red haired girl took a sip out of her drink. The lakes waves were lapping against the stairs going up to the deck, and the sun was beaming down in hot waves.
"Rissa? Rissa. Are you okay?" Rissa looked up to see where the voice had come from. A boy, around the age of sixteen or seventeen, stood in front of her. His black hair blew around in the wind, while his crystalized blue eyes never left her face. His cheeks were flushed, proving he had been running. His t-shirt hung off his body, and floated with the wind, while his shorts moved quickly. He wore no shoes, as did she.
Rissa pulled on her curls, as nervousness ran through her. "Skylar... look at how beautiful the day is. I don't want to leave her. This is my home. This is my life. I don't want to have to go."
Sky kneeled down beside her chair, and pulled off the black sunglasses she was wearing. Her green eyes stared at him like he was the only one left in the world. Rubbing his thumb over her cheek, he gave a small smile, "Oh, Marissa. I know how you feel. But you don't need to worry! We will come back here. I promise."
Marissa was popular at school, while Skylar was just a guy who everyone laughed around with. It was amazing how well the two of them got along. Opposites attract you could say. But today, all Rissa wanted to do was curl up beside him and stay that way.
They were heading back from the lake, the last time in a few years. They were graduating next week, and going their seperate ways. They didn't even know if they would see each other again. Since their elementary school days, they had been best of friends. Even closer than some of the other girls, and guys.
Skylar smiled again, and pulled her up. His arms enclosed her, as she blinked in surprise. Hesitantly, she laid her head onto his chest. Sky stroked her red curls with a light hand.
"You don't have to worry Rissa. I promise you, we will come back. I will find you and bring you back. You're my best friend." And with that, he brought his hand to her face, and tilted her chin up. Leaning in, he kissed her lips softly.
