[Thirteen year old Annabella was asleep In the top bunk at Danville orphanage. she had been here for years now. It wasn't the most exciting place. nor the cleanest. but It was better than where she lived before. In Chicago Illinois. (That's where she was born), she lived with a blonde haired woman, and a dark haired man. they were people children called 'Parents'. though, to Ten year old Annabella they were simply abominations, who happened to be her parents.
"stand straight, and stop slouching" the blonde had said to Annabel. "But I'm no-" Annabel started. but her mother quickly cut her off with a sweep of her hand across the young girls cheek. "I will not have back talk. you hear?" she said to Annabella.
she swallowed but nodded. knowing that If she back talked, that she'd get hit worser than what had already been done. they were on their way to a wedding. Annabella's grandmothers actually, Joana Roberts. Annabella was excited to go there. not because of her horrid mother. no, because her grandmother. the lady who always helped her If her mother dared lay a hand on her near Joana's present. she had even told her the last time, that at her wedding, when she got married she'd help her get away from her mother. she'd take her under her own wing. this had brighten the girls day. and for a while, she had hopes, dreams. she'd be able to live a normal life. go to school without bruises and people starring at her, whispering about how she got abused. so after about a month or so Annabella was happy with her Grandmother, and her Grandfather. they treated her well, took care of her, bought her nice things. but a year after that, both her Grandmother, and Grandfather died after having sex a little to fast. poor Annabella had been left alone sense then. not one bit of family left. they even tried to shove her back under the wing of her horrible mother. but Annabella had showed them papers clarifying why she was living with her Grandmother Instead of her own mother. after they had examined the papers, they had decided the best place for her was the orphanage.
now here she was, three years later and untouched. she was up now, sitting on the lower bunk of her roommates bed. Rebbecca. Rebbecca had been her friend ever sense she had moved here. and she honestly felt as If she was the closest thing she had right now.
"You think Daniella has really found us parents?" Rebbecca asked Annabella excitedly.
"I don't think so. think, how many times has this happened, for us only to get disappointed?" Annabella pointed out to her bed friend.
"But Annabella, you don't know that! maybe this time it's really gonna happen. we'll be sisters for real this time! she says she wouldn't adopt one of us to the a different parent even If someone requested!" Rebbecca repeated. she still had the hope that Annabella didn't.
"I know, but..."
"But what Ann? listen, for years now you've been blocked up. scared to move on to a different family. well maybe this time they won't be so abusive! I'm here with you, girl. I wouldn't let anyone, or anything touch you" Rebbecca said to her best friend.
this brought a smile to Annabella's face. and Rebbecca returned that smile.
that's when Daniella, the owner and daughter of Dan, opened the door and popped her head In.
"Morning girls. you ready to meet your new parents? I think they're really nice people. I'm sure you two will love 'em!" Daniella said to the two girls.
Rebbecca's eye's gleamed with excitement as she hopped off the bed and pulled a Hesitant Annabella up with her. Daniella held the door opened for the girls as they walked out Into the hall. Annabella could hear chattering In the next room. and bit her bottom lip nervously. Daniella opened the door to a small, yet warm office and seated the girls In front of a light skinned, brown haired, blue eye'd woman. and a dark haired male. the woman with brown hair smiled at both of the girls.
"These are the best girls out of the whole group. they've been through the worse. they could really use some good people like you" Daniella said. arms crossed over her chest.
"Well then girls, nice to meet you! I am Jefferson" the dark haired male said, extending a hand. like always, Rebbecca always eager outstretched her hand to shake it.
"Hi! I'm Rebbecca". the thirteen year old girl said. Jefferson smiled at her, then turned his brown gaze on Annabella.
"and who Is this beautiful young lady?", Jefferson asked.
Annabella sighed and looked down, her voice getting low.
"My names Annabella, sir". she said. Jefferson chuckled lightly and outstretched a friendly hand. Annabella shook her head lightly though. she didn't want to get to know these people. they'd be just like everyone else In her life. they'd pretend to love her. then throw her out the next minute. Jefferson didn't seem hurt by It though. and this shocked Annabella. he removed his hand and placed it back In his lap.
"Well then Annabella. please, call me Jefferson. think of me as a friend. not someone who owns you. It's quite fine If you don't want to shake my hand. It's sometimes scary to meet new people" he smiled.
Annabella only nodded. then, for the first time the brown haired woman spoke.
"Hello girls. as Jefferson has stated, think of us as friends. we only want to help you girls and put a roof over your heads. I'm Maria. and like Jeff, you can call me by my first name" she said. her voice was so soft, so sweet you'd think she couldn't hurt a fly In the world. but Annabella had learned not to be friends with strangers. friends always turned on you.
"Okay then!" Daniella said from In her quiet corner she was standing in. she had clapped her hands together loudly to get everyone's attention.
"I'll have the girls bags packed and everything! and you can come over tomorrow evening to pick them up." Daniella stated to the family. Jefferson, and Maria nodded In agreement.
"Sounds good" Maria said.
"Bye girls!" Jefferson said to them. before both, Maria and Jefferson got up, opened the door to the office and disappeared down the hall.
"So, how do you like them?" Daniella said, finally taking a seat In front of the two blonde girls. Annabella had took the blonde hair from her mother. and the light sea green eye's as well. Rebbecca was also a blonde. but her eye's were light brown, soft colored eye's.
"I love them!" Rebbecca said with a grin.
"And how about you Annabella?" Daniella asked, her gaze turning over to her now.
"Um, they are....okay..." she stated. Daniella smiled and clapped her hands together wants more. which, startled the girls.
"Great! off to your dorms you go now. go on and pack, then come down for dinner, with the rest of the Orphanage" Daniella stated to them both.
the girls nodded and got up, walking out the door. on there way to there dorms, Rebbecca started talking about are new foster parents.
"Oh em gee! they were like, so amazing Ann! don't you think? and we're gonna be sisters!" Rebbecca said, hugging her tightly. Annabella didn't reply though. she didn't feel up to talking about the new foster parents. not even with Rebbecca. something seemed off about them. she didn't know what though. but they seemed like they were.........acting. they were a little...to nice.
