    Zombies






    EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD. EVENING

    We see zombies roaming the streets and sidewalks. Other
    people from the neighboorhood are leaving. Some are running
    away. We see zombies tackle people down and bite them.
    There’s people screaming and getting into their cars.

    We see a couple get in their car. Another couple bangs on
    their car asking for help. The couple in the car just drives
    away. Zombies chase after other people. Some zombies are
    eating bodies on the ground.

    We see zombies heading toward the Hartman family home, and
    start banging on their doors and windows.


    INT. LIVING ROOM. NIGHT.

    Zombies continue to bang on the windows and doors. We hear
    the zombie growls and scary sounds they make.

    MITCHEL
    Jesus! They’re everywhere!

    KIERRA
    We need to think of something!

    XAVIER
    (picking up a crowbar)
    We fight them off! It’s simple as
    that!

    PHOENIX
    Hell yeah I’m in on that too.

    Phoenix picks up an iron pipe from the couple of things from
    the shed on the floor.

    DAMON
    Guys, wait...kill them? We’re not
    killers!

    PHOENIX
    If we don’t kill them, THEY KILL
    US! We need to defend for
    oursevles, and our HOME!

    He tosses a shovel to Mitchel and he catches it.

    MITCHEL
    They’re right, Damon.

    DAMON
    But...they’re people!

    PHOENIX
    Are they? Take a look around you!
    We’re ******** under attack!

    DAMON
    Hold on, you’re the one who didn’t
    believe them in the first place!

    PHOENIX
    Damon, is this really the time???

    Damon doesn’t say anything. Phoenix then tosses him a
    hammer.

    MITCHEL
    Guys, we need to think of something
    now, and FAST!

    SARAH
    Where are we gonna go? How are we
    gonna keep them away??

    XAVIER
    Here, we should just all stay
    close, stay calm and--

    Suddenly zombies start to crack open the door and windows.

    KIERRA
    They’re gonna break in...


    DAMON
    We need to hide!

    PHOENIX
    Hide? What good is that gonna do?!

    DAMON
    We dont know what they’re capable
    of doing!

    XAVIER
    Just do it, Phoenix!

    The zombies break open the door more, they’re almost in.
    Xavier quickly hides in the kitchen. Phoenix and Damon run
    to the living room.

    MITCHEL
    Girls, come here!

    As the three run and reach the top of the stairs, the
    zombies break in. A few start wondering in the house, making
    raspy growls and and screeching noises.

    Phoenix is eying one of the zombies, behind a couch near the
    wall.

    Upstairs, Mitchel leads Sarah to hide in Xavier’s room.
    Kierra tells Mitchel to go in Damon’s room. Kierra hides in
    hers

    Downstairs, Xavier is under the dining table. About two
    zombies are walking through the kitchen. He aims his crowbar
    towards a zombies legs and swings at the knees, breaking
    them. The zombie falls and sees Xavier. Its growls and
    crawls to him. Xavier gets up from the dining table.

    Damon notices the other zombie starts for him but Xavier
    quickly goes through the backdoor. Dsmon is about to get up
    to help, but zombies are walking to the door. Xavier has a
    plan. More zombies from inside the house are start banging
    on the back door, trying to get to Xavier.

    A zombie wonders closer to Phoenix. He sits with his back
    leaning against the back of the couch. He looks at Damon who
    is kneeling behind an end table, peeking out. Damon gestures
    Phoenix to not move and to keep quiet. Most of the zombies
    go to the back door. Phoenix attacks one zombie quietly,
    bashing its neck to the side, and it dies.

    Damon uses the back of the hammer to impale it in another
    zombie’s head. They quietly go upstairs to get the others.


    EXT. BACKYARD.

    Xavier backs away, and a zombie grabs him. Xavier pulls away
    and hits it in the head with a crowbar. More zombies are
    coming through the fences. Xavier runs, bashing zombies out
    of his way to the shed, and closes the door. Zombies start
    banging on the door.


    INT. SECOND FLOOR.

    Upstairs, Damon quietly goes in his room.

    DAMON
    (quietly)
    Mitchel...? Kierra? You guys in
    here?

    Mitchel comes out from the master bathroom. He gesutres
    Mitchel to be very quiet. The zombie growls can be heard
    from downstairs.

    Phoenix finds Kierra in her room.

    PHOENIX
    (whispering)
    Be as quiet as possible. Where’s
    Sarah?

    KIERRA
    (whispering)
    In Xavier’s room!

    PHOENIX
    Come on...

    Phoenix and Kierra enter Xavier’s room and gets Sarah.

    PHOENIX (CNT’D)
    You ok??

    SARAH
    They’re still down there, they’re
    gonna hear us!

    PHOENIX
    No, which is exactly why you need
    to be as quiet as possible. Okay?

    SARAH
    Ok...ok. Where’s my dad?

    Damon and Mitchel get together with them.

    DAMON
    Are you guys ok?

    KIERRA
    Yes, we’re fine. Where’s Xavier?

    DAMON
    Out in back...which is why we need
    to get him.

    MITCHEL
    I hope you have a plan in mind...

    DAMON
    We’re gonna creep downstairs, and
    get out the front door. Okay? Just
    be very quiet, because those things
    (MORE)

    DAMON (cont’d)
    are no more than a toss away from
    the stairs.

    MITCHEL
    Got it.

    DAMON
    Follow me, come on.

    They slowly start creeping down the stairs. As they’re going
    down, they can see the zombies banging on the back door.
    Sarah sees and covers her mouth with her hand, shocked. A
    zombie wonders right next to the stairs, with his head
    almost turned to them. The zombie wonders in the kitchen.

    Damon, with a sigh of releif, gestures everyone to keep
    quiet. He slowly creeps down. Mitchel is following him,
    along with Phoenix. As Kierra is coming down, a zombie turns
    and sees her. The zombie starts to her and Damon attacks it.

    More zombies notice and start for them.

    PHOENIX
    s**t!!

    MITCHEL
    Sarah!!

    Sarah is blocked off from everyone else, as three zombies
    walk after her, as she’s still on the stairs. She screams
    and climbs back up as zombies are chasing her. Zombies are
    walking toward Damon, Mitchel, Phoenix and Kierra. They all
    run outside and close the front door.


    EXT. IN FRONT OF HOUSE.

    MITCHEL (CNT’D)
    Sarah’s in there! I have to get
    her!

    KIERRA
    She might have went to one of our
    rooms!

    DAMON
    Come on!

    EXT. BACKYARD.

    They all run to the back, as they hear and see other zombies
    romaing the streets. People are screaming and getting into
    cars, driving away. Sarah runs through the hallway and locks
    herself in Xavier’s room again. She’s crying as zombies are
    banging on the bedroom door.

    As the four go to the back, they see zombies surrounding the
    shed. Damon and Phoenix go to attack them. Upstairs, Sarah
    sees her family in the backyeard. She opens the window.

    SARAH
    DAD!!

    MITCHEL
    Sarah!! Just hold on!

    As he goes for the backdoor, Kierra stops him.

    KIERRA
    No, don’t go in there!

    Mitchel sees zombies banging on the back door, trying to get
    to them.


    INT. SHED.

    Xavier is looking around. He hears the door for the shed
    about to break. He hears Damon and Phoenix fighting off the
    zombies outside. Xavier uses the crowbar to break open the
    side of the shed. He escapes and the first thing he sees are
    zombies still in the yard.

    He then joins in the fighting with Damon and Phoenix, and
    they kill of the few zombies in the yard.

    They see Sarah up in the room. She looks back at the door
    and it’s starting to break open.

    SARAH
    Dad...!

    PHOENIX
    Sarah, just jump! Come on!

    SARAH
    No! I can’t!

    PHOENIX
    Sarah, you don’t have a choice!
    Come on! I got you!

    More zombies start walking through the fences. Xavier bashes
    on zombie’s skull in as blood splatters everywhere. Sarah
    climbs through the window and crawls on the roof.

    MITCHEL
    You can do it, baby! Come on!

    The bedroom door breaks open and Sarah closes the window
    from the outside. Zombies bang on the bedroom window. She
    looks at the zombies close up and slowly backs away. She
    looks down.

    SARAH
    It’s too high! I can’t!

    MITCHEL
    Yes you can! Come on! We don’t have
    alot of time!

    PHOENIX
    I got you, Sarah! Just do it!

    Phoenix has his arms out, ready to catch her. Sarah gulps
    and leaps down. Phoenix catches her, almost dropping her.
    Mitchel hugs Sarah tight.

    MITCHEL
    Are you ok? Are you hurt??

    SARAH
    No, no, I’m fine!

    DAMON
    We gotta get to our cars, come on!

    They run out the backyard, to the front as zombies are
    walking after them.


    EXT. IN FRONT OF HOUSE.

    They all run to the car. Damon looks back and sees zombies
    coming for them. They get into the SUV


    INT. CAR.

    As Damon is looking for the spare key, everyone is freaking
    out, panicking, and talking over each other. Damon finds the
    key and starts the car.

    DAMON
    Everyone shut up!!!

    They all look at him. Very short pause.

    MITCHEL
    Holy s**t...look...

    Everyone looks out the window to see zombies are eating
    corpses on the road. They’re digging out the flesh with
    their nails and eating the organs.

    PHOENIX
    (in shock)
    Oh my God...

    SARAH
    (tearing up)
    What are they doing..??

    XAVIER
    (in shock)
    My God.

    Zombies start banging on the car. Kierra screams.

    MITCHEL
    DAMON, GO!!

    XAVIER
    Go dad!!

    Damon quickly backs out and drives away as zombies are
    walking after them.

    As they’re driving, they see residents scattered running,
    and being attacked. Other cars are driving. They see two
    cars crash into each other.

    PHOENIX
    Jesus, what’s going on??

    DAMON
    I don’t know, Phoenix!

    Xavier tries tuning the radio but there’s nothing airing.

    MITCHEL
    Where are we going?? Cant we help
    these people?


    (CONTINUED)

    DAMON
    We can’t help them! There’s no
    time!

    SARAH
    They’re dying out there!

    DAMON
    WE need to think about surviving
    and how to get out of here!

    KIERRA
    Where can we go that’s safe?? This
    place is under attack!

    DAMON
    We can probably go to the police
    station, I don’t know!--

    Suddenly a car smashes into their headlight, taking it out.
    The car swerves and hits a tree. The other car keeps driving
    away.

    DAMON
    s**t...is everyone ok??

    XAVIER
    Kierra? Mitchel? You guys ok??

    KIERRA
    Yes, yes we’re fine!

    PHOENIX
    Just keep going!

    Damon drives away, taking another route away from the
    zombie-infested suburban area they’re in.


    EXT. GAS STATION.

    They drive up to a gas station that is away from the area, a
    lot more quiet. Damon stops the car in front of the pump.
    Him, Xavier and Mitchel get out the car.

    MITCHEL
    You sure we have time to do this?

    DAMON
    Tank light went on. We ain’t going
    no where without any gas.

    MITCHEL
    We gotta make this quick.

    XAVIER
    Where can we possibly go? I mean,
    for all we know, every town in
    every state can be like this.

    Phoenix, Sarah and Kierra get out of the car.

    PHOENIX
    What’re you guys waiting for?

    DAMON
    I’m waiting for a way to break
    through this gas pump.

    KIERRA
    Why are you stealing it?

    DAMON
    Well Kierra, I didn’t really
    remember to bring my wallet with
    me...

    Damon looks at the gas pump trying to figure out how to
    break through it.

    MITCHEL
    How exactly are you going to come
    about this?

    DAMON
    I don’t know, Mitchel, I really
    don’t.

    PHOENIX
    Hey, let me see that crowbar,
    Xavier.

    He hands Phoenix the crowbar. Phoenix looks at the gas pump
    and starts beating through the plastic to get to the gas
    lines.

    DAMON
    What’re you doing?

    PHOENIX
    Trying to get you some gas. Isn’t
    that what you wanted?

    MITCHEL
    Whoa, how do you know how to do
    this?

    PHOENIX
    Don’t forget Uncle Mitch, I’ve been
    in juvie more than ten times. Don’t
    ever under estimate me.

    Mitchel and Damon look at each other. As Phoenix is trying
    to break in, they hear an extremely loud zombie screech,
    which makes everyone jump and look around.

    SARAH
    What the hell was that?

    DAMON
    I don’t know, but we have to start
    moving faster. Those things aren’t
    too far from us.

    Phoenix tries to break through the pump faster. As he’s
    doing it, two zombies break out the small store and start
    after them.

    DAMON
    s**t...

    Xavier runs up to one and cracks one of the zombie’s heads.
    It collapses on the ground, and Damon gets the second zombie
    that was about to attack him.

    KIERRA
    Oh, s**t, GUYS!

    Kierra points down the street and sees a hoard of zombies
    from a far starting after them. Sarah looks down the other
    street and sees more zombies. Zombies from across the street
    in houses start after them.

    SARAH
    Oh, my God...!

    MITCHEL
    Damon, we have to go!

    DAMON
    We need this gas!

    MITCHEL
    We need our lives!

    DAMON
    Without this gas, we can’t go
    anywhere for us to save our lives!

    XAVIER
    Dad, this is crazy!

    SARAH
    Guys, they’re coming closer!

    PHOENIX
    ******** it! We won’t make it in time!

    Suddenly, zombies come from behind the gas station and start
    after them. They back up to the car.

    MITCHEL
    Jesus Christ, they’re everywhere...

    PHOENIX
    We have to fight our way through.

    DAMON
    We’re not going to make it that
    way!

    PHOENIX
    What other way do we have??

    Zombies get closer and closer. Phoenix starts attacking
    zombies. Xavier does the same as well, and Mitchel joins in.
    Sarah and Kierra stay near each other.

    KIERRA
    Sarah, come on, we need to help
    them!

    She grabs her hand and they both run into the small store.


    INT. SMALL STORE.

    Sarah and Kierra are rapidly looking around for what they
    could possibly use.

    KIERRA
    What ever you can possibly find, we
    have to use!

    SARAH
    Like what?!

    KIERRA
    Anything that can seriously injure
    someone!!


    EXT. GAS STATION.

    As Phoenix is fighting off a zombie, another one attacks
    him, but Phoenix pushes it away. He loses balance and falls,
    hitting his side on a broken bottle, impaling it. Phoenix
    yells from pain.

    The zombies get closer. Xavier is being cornered to the car,
    trying to fight them off. A zombie gets too close to him and
    he’s back him off with the crowbar to it’s neck, trying to
    push it back.

    Phoenix is crawling on the ground, and the zombies are
    getting closer. Damon then stabs the zombie in the head with
    the back of the hammer. More zombies are coming closer to
    the gas station.


    INT. SMALL STORE.

    Kierra goes into the back room and sees an ax in an
    emergency door. She breaks open the door with her arm and
    grabs the ax. As she goes to leave, a zombie blocks the
    doorway and goes to grab her. Kierra screams and whacks the
    zombie with the ax on the shoulder.

    It doesnt do anything. The zombie goes to grab her as Kierra
    is backing up to the wall. She impales it’s arm, it doesnt
    do anything. She screams and finally impales the axe in it’s
    head. The zombie falls down and she cries.


    EXT. GAS STATION.

    Damon helps Phoenix up, and helps him walk to the corner of
    the wall.

    PHOENIX
    (holding his wound)
    There’s too many...we’re not going
    to make it...

    Kierra runs out the store and zombies start at her almost
    immediatley. She impales the axe in another zombie’s head.
    Blood splatters on her clothes. Mitchel runs to a more open
    space, to try and fight them off. Sarah comes out.

    SARAH
    There’s nothing there!

    KIERRA
    Sarah watch out!!

    A zombie tackles Sarah to the ground. Sarah screams as the
    zombie is trying to bite her, as she’s pushing it’s head
    back. Suddenly, a gunshot is heard and a bullet rips through
    the zombie’s head.

    Sarah looks up to see a sheriff, JAXON, 47, with a shotgun
    in his hand.

    JAXON
    Are you ok?? Did it bite you??

    Before Sarah could say anything, Jaxon gestures his team to
    come out. Kierra, Xavier and Mitchel see Jaxon and his team
    by the station.

    JAXON (CNT’D)
    STAND CLEAR!

    Sarah gets up and runs to him. Kierra, Xavier and Mitchel
    all quickly lay on the ground.

    JAXON
    (to his team)
    OPEN FIRE!

    Jaxon and the other officers open fire on all the zombies at
    the gas station. Damon and Phoenix hide behind the wall.
    Zombies start dying left and right, collapsing. Jaxon shoots
    the final zombie and it collapses on the ground.

    Pause.

    Kierra, Xavier and Mitchel slowly get up from the ground.
    They take a look at all the dead zombies around them. Damon
    and Phoenix come out and they see Phoenix is hurt.

    KIERRA
    Phoenix...!

    She runs up to him.

    KIERRA (CNT’D)
    Are you ok??

    PHOENIX
    (in pain)
    Yeah, yeah, just a little scratch.

    She hugs him tight. Sarah runs to Mitchel and hugs him.

    JAXON
    I’m glad you’re all alright.

    DAMON
    Thanks officer.

    JAXON
    Officer Carlos, Officer Nick! Go
    out and search for more survivors!

    OFFICER NICK
    Yes, sir.

    JAXON
    Michael, get these people to the
    school and have them get checked
    out immediately.

    MICHAEL
    Sure thing, sir.

    JAXON
    Guys, go with my lieutenant,
    Michael. He will take you to the
    school, the shelter.

    DAMON
    Wait, dont leave yet, do you know
    whats going on?

    JAXON
    There’s no time! Go with him now!

    DAMON
    Please wait!

    MICHAEL
    Come with me.

    JAXON
    You guys will be safe there.

    He turns to the rest of his team.

    JAXON (CNT’D)
    Okay guys, move out!

    The officers get in their vehicles and drive away. Jaxon
    leaves as well, as everyone gets in the cop car to drive
    with Michael.
