I had just gotten off the school bus and started yelling my goodbyes to Cindy while walking down the street. I started to reflect on the great day I had, and what I could say to make tomorrow even better. Walking into my house from the garage, I found our dogs Moya, Talyn, Trinity, and Apollo, had gotten loose from their small prison of a room, and was roaming around the house causing mischief.
"Get in your room!" I shouted at them furiously, knowing they had probably already peed on Mom and Dad's bed.
I ran to my room finding it completley wrecked, and part of my desk had been ripped off and was now lying in the hallway. I dropped my bag and tore off my coat, throwing them onto the floor in my room, adding to the clutter. I looked into my brother's room, seeing my cat on the floor, unmoving in the haunting darkness.
"Hang in there Logan!" I shouted, and ran after the dogs franticly, trying to get them back into their room. He replied with a gurgling meow.
After I had put the dogs back in their room, I sprinted back to my brother's room and turned his light on. I burst into tears at the sight of my cat Logan laying on the ground, a mutilated lump. I walked into my brother's room, covering my mouth. Logan was sprawled out on the floor as if broken, covered in dog slobber. The pupils of his eyes were wide, as if he were terrified before death, and his mouth was gaping open like he was gasping for breath.
I called my dad, choking on my tears; I tried talking into the phone. "Daddy, I came home and the dogs were out, and kitty's on the floor, and I don't think hes breathing!" I told him through tears.
"Calm down sweetie, I can't understand you when you're crying."He said.
It took me a second, and I was still crying when I repeated myself, but he still understood me.
Not long after my dad hung up, Mom called and told me to put my hand on his belly to see if he was breathing, but he wasn't. I kept petting him, praying to God not to let him die. "Kitty please, please, you can't die on me!!!" I kept begging over and over, "You can't leave me!" It was too late. My first animal, the animal i had for ten whole years; Logan was dead.
When Dad came home, he put a white towel over Logan and tried to comfort me. When Mom came home, she looked under the cloth covering kitty and had the same reaction I did.
Later we took Logan to the Vet to have them bury him in the pet cemetery. I have never cried as much as I did that day, not even when I was a baby. Wednesday March 5th, 2008. A day I will never forget for as long as I live...
