“Where have I come to?”
As I watch the red cars, their loud noises blaring, my ears have the troubles of age to hear them blare properly. The bright red now dulled by my aged eyes, or was that just the smoke of the fire? Now being blown to my house from the once lush green forests of trees on the far side of the mountain? The red cars have their hoses and ladders they were always where a fire was,,, they were there to stop the fires, supposedly.
The mountain reached high into the sky, above the clouds, the rain that fell from the sky would freeze in the mountains and melt into streams, which flowed down the mountain regularly, giving me fresh water, also my well collecting the rain for when I could not drink from the precious streams of water.
My old timber house, warm and inviting, The fire wood stacked neatly on the western side, the eastern side on the edge of my precious steam, and at the northern side my paddock and shed for the goats and chickens. The front of the house faced south away from the mountain, roughly 100 meters away from the cliff that dropped to the ocean.
The goats paddock reached up to the rocky parts of the mountain, though they could not escape this allowed them the freedom to keep fit to produce my milk and cheese.
My house was the first in this town, well I had been here before this, and this place was even a town. I wandered here from,,,, well I do not remember where, I could barely remember how to speak English when they came, they destroyed part of the forest’s I had come to call home, they built there repulsive brick houses, their hideous black roads(tar or something they called it, I remember the day they created their roads that stench, never have I smelt anything worse).
For 5 years they built a town of hideous roads of stench, repulsive houses and even, bars? No, cars, the things I came to understand acted much like a moving seat you sat down inside of them clambering inside of doors that were attached to the seat’s, most of them could fit 5 people inside of them. They would usually have 4 tires( rounded metal with an outer ring they called rubber, although it did not smell like their tar It always reminded me of the awful stuff) although some had as many as 10 tires.
Then built something they called a shopping village, a type of merchant village that sold all assortment of merchandise, I would every now so often get a traveller interested in buying and selling an assortment of thing’s to me before they came although they always wanted something called money, a type of trading token that had a certain amount of the material to each object, when they asked “ how do you live without money?” in the most confused voice as if it was the most basic of lives necessary’s, I would answer “with the goats that live on my paddock out back, they give me milk and cheese, the chickens give me eggs, and the stream to the side of my house supply’s me with water to drink, the forest gives me wood to burn and with the game that lives nearby I hunt for food and eat the them for meat”
To this they usually stare at me as if I am insane, then say that I must have a pretty hard live living by myself I the tell them that on the contrary I like the peace of living alone. And I can do what I wish when I wish to do just that.
They next started to dig up the soil on the far side of the mountain, not just with shovels and that one would use for their garden, but massive cars with tires of tar twice the size of any man, and the shovelling cars they used could fit 4 men in side of their shovels which then put the soil into cars with massive trays that would then take them to massive houses that no one lived in. these houses were hot when they worked to extract the gold and iron, although, they were as cold as the winters ice when there was no one there.
Once there they would take out all the iron that helped the plants grow and gold which was valuable to them. Although I knew the stuff was rare I did not understand their obsession with it, why take the gold when you have to destroy a forest as beautiful as this to get it. A herd of deer used to live there.
Now their massive house where they extracted the iron and gold had caught on fire and was burning away the beautiful forest. I knew it would reach my house I could see the flame’s now and my goats had run away never in my years of being here had there ever been a fire which threatened the forest, not in my 55 years of living here had there ever been a fire and in the 6 years they had been here there had been 60 fires.
Now everything I have lived with is slowly being burnt away by there maniacal obsessions, I will die with this fire I have lived long and happy till they came, destroyed the forest, my goats had run away even the chickens have runaway flapping their wings trying to fly, with no success from years of disuse, my stream is contaminated with ash, my well is filled with the floating ash as well.
I know the fires burn will put me through the most tremendous pain physically possible, although the pain of seeing the beautiful forest and animals burnt alive by their obsessions. They are the death of me and everything I love, and they call themselves human’s.

Not bad I guess... So in relation to belonging are you acknowledging that belonging is a cultural idea? That the way we live is dependent on what we see we need to belong?
Grammatically it's pretty good, though you've missed a few possessive apostrophes in places. The length of some of your sentences may also need to be reviewed, considering that some of them are four and a half lines. smile
Good job overall I think. =P - Report As Spam
