The couple's laughter faded into an awkward silence as their fingers laced. For a moment they stared at one another before quickly looking away and shifting nervously. An awkward silence hung over them for what seemed like an eternity broken only by a second of humming.
The girl closed her eyes, body relaxing to the low sound which gradually became whispers and finally audible words sung in a tune. The boy in between his singing stole glances at the girl noticing that she trembled. He wrapped an arm around her shivering form and drew her close. To his surprise she shook even harder in his embrace and a chorus of laughter spilled from her lips.
"I-I'm so sorry..." She said in between her giggling.
Once she composed her self she raised her eyes to look at him.
"You sound awful," she continued, reaching up to caress his cheek. He smiled in response, and kissed the tip of her nose.
He continued to serenade her and she listened. She eventually joined him. Although it wasn't perfect, it was just right.
