Clustered into groups, scattered
Strangers seeking comfort in the face of tragedy.
A well of tears, held back defiantly
Amongst those who borrow shoulders so freely.
The life, the love, the potential
Of a boy stamped out in one decisive action
A real life tragedy plays before our eyes
It's a true Shakespeare, all flourish and fashion.
Tearful memories of easier days
Put pressure on the eyes
The dam, it breaks, tears spill out
The pain makes us surprised.
And we all wonder how we failed to see
The tremendous pain in a boy of sixteen.
The regret stings, but our steps came too late
We weep while behind him closes the gate

Description:
This was a poem i wrote for a friend who committed suicide a year and a half ago. It's just a free-verse poem, but I thought I'd post it up nonetheless.
Rest in Peace, Josh. - Date: 10/07/2008
