Today my love, it’s you
The pull on my mind,
The cause of my stare
The light in my eyes
The day wastes away
Following the shadow
Of so many before
Forming this blur that clouds my senses
My blankets are your arms
My sustenance your words
My song your voice
My dream your face
Though its truth lies unknown
Do you feel the river
Flowing without a source
Do you feel the quake
Separate from the rocking of the earth
Do you feel the fire
Which burns without fuel
Do you feel the drain,
Which penetrates my hard shell
Devouring my fighting spirit
The wait weights
The past presses
The mystery masters
The need gnaws
Sleep fails to renew
Bread fails to fill
Laughs fail to lift the soul
Herbs fail to heal
The ache that is a parasite, despair
Unnaturally strengthened by the passing of time
