My Friend

• Description: this was a poem written for my friend on our last day of school this past june. i wrote it for her, along with a letter telling her how much she had meant to me when during the time we had together, and expressed how much i would miss her, seeing that we are going to different schools starting this fall. its a little depressing at times, seeing how the bond lessened but I think this is one of my best works.

We met on the first day
I was all alone
You were standing behind me
How our fates would cross, we wouldn't have known

We began to talk
We got on great
You sat with me during classes
And during lunch, together we ate

Throughout the whole year
We were always together
And at the start of summer
We promised we'd be friends forever

Summer began
We kept in touch
Even though we talked
We didn't see each other much

I went away alot
And each other we missed
When I couldn't come to your birthday
You were really pissed

Summer was over
We hugged on the grass
I was really excited
'Cause we were in the same class

But we began to make our own friends
The time we spent wasn't as long
But even though we weren't always together
Our bond was still strong

We would still talk
We still got on great
We sat together in some classes
And if we could, together we ate

Now the year is over
This was the last day
You'll be staying with everyone
And I'll be going away

We were always together
Through the good and the bad
And because we are close
Parting will be sad

Now it's graduation
Everything is about to end
I have to say this once and for all
I'm glad you were my friend
