• I stared at the screen
    Wondering what did it mean
    By the Rest in Peace
    By your name
    I was shocked and afraid
Of what it may bring to us
    I began to cry
    Silently
    With no one watching me
Although my family was crying too
    We cried separately
For we knew each others pain
    I just could not believe
    What had happened today.

    My mother phoned our relatives
While my sister and I cried
    I heard her yell
    One word of pain
    It was true
    He was beaten to death
    Though he did nothing wrong
    I cried harder now
    Knowing the truth
Not wanting others to be pained
    By my sadness
    I tried to smile
    But I cried even more
Yet I laughed to make things alright
    Then we left in tears
    Towards their house
    Silently crying to ourselves
    I already miss
    Your thoughtful face
    Rest in peace forever.

    Everyone was there
    From grandmothers to nieces
    Even friends were there
    Crying it out
    We miss you so much
    How tragic it be
    I can't stand the thought
    Of how everything will be
    You made me smile
    When I was sad
    You joked about things
    Even if I was mad
    You turned everything around
    Turned my frown upside down
    But now your gone
    Rest in peace forever more.

My cousin(name has not been released by the police..), was beaten to death and found above ground in the St. Boniface Cemetery. We spend holidays there and he was the one who always made my whole family laugh, even the adults. He wasn't even 18 and died. This was a true poem, though it has no flow, it's really just something personal. I miss him so much I had to do something... Love you forever cousin, Rest in peace and paradise forever more, protect us. Love you once more.
