note: i have to naruto characters...theres Rei Ishida and Sakura Uchiha...my Sakura is Sasukes twin....i'll put more up about her later.


Rei was up early as usual; she went out side for some fresh air. It was a normal day, a clear sky and bright sun, nothing special. She went back to their room and put on her clothes. Itachi had gotten up.
“Good morning Itachi.” Rei smiled.
He nodded. Rei slipped on her boots.
“I’m going to take a walk, is that alright?” She asked.
“Yes.” Itachi watched her leave.

Rei walked quietly down the hall. She didn’t want to make anyone mad by being loud. She turned the corner and saw Hidan and Kakuzu coming. She stopped in from of them and bowed her head.
“Hidan-sama, Kakuzu-sama…”
They ignored her and kept walking. She knew they would ignore her but not doing it could mean a worse punishment from Leader.
When she looked up she saw a small candy on the floor. It was most likely from Hidan-sama. She knew it wasn’t Kakuzu, he had never liked her. She picked it up and put it in her pocket. She walked in to the court yard. Rei went over and sat by the big tree. She sat on the side where she wouldn’t be seen if someone came down the open hall. She took the candy out of her pocket and unwrapped it. She put it in her mouth. Birds flew over head. Rei looked up.
“I wonder what it would be like…” She whispered to herself.
She sat there for a while, just thinking. It was a nice peaceful place to sit and think.
“Rei come here…” Itachi called her.
She peeked around the tree. “Coming!” she said as she got up. She went over to Itachi. He handed Rei her bag. She flung it over a shoulder.
“Where are we going this time?” Rei asked.
“The village hidden in the mist…”
Rei nodded and followed Itachi out. Kisame met them in the front hall. Deidara and Sasori left right ahead of them. Rei stayed close to Itachi. She didn’t want to get Deidara mad. Kisame walked on the other side of Itachi. After about fifteen minutes the two groups went different ways and the awkward silence stopped. Now it was more of a peaceful quiet.

They stopped for the night and got a room in an inn. Rei was exhausted, so she lay down right away. Itachi made her get up to eat though. She lay down after she ate. Itachi and Kisame sat and talked quietly for a while. Rei couldn’t sleep but she was drowsy so she listened in. It was about the mission they were on. They said something about the two tailed beast. Rei couldn’t sleep at all after hearing that. She shifted under the covers.
“Rei if you aren’t going to sleep come here…” Itachi said.
She slid out from under the covers and walked over. She sat down close to Itachi. She didn’t say anything, but she did lean her head on his shoulder. He put his arm around her and pulled her close.
“Try to get some rest.” He said softly.
“I’ll try…” She said.
With her head rested on his shoulder and his arm around her she was warm and comfortable. She fell asleep.
“You really are too good to her…” Kisame said.
“She deserves that much…” Rei heard Itachi say that.
When she woke up she was in her bed. Kisame and Itachi were awake already. Rei felt tired still so she didn’t get up right away like normal. Itachi came over and woke her up. She was reluctant to get up but she did anyway. They were on their way again right after Rei got up. Rei was feeling light headed and was still tired but she kept going. They ended up traveling on a road that had no shade and the sun was hot that day. Rei was trying her best to keep up with them. She was also trying to cover up the fact she wasn’t feeling well. She started lagging behind.
“Rei keep up…” Kisame yelled at her.
She ran over to them. She regretted it as soon as her head started pounding. Itachi looked back at her.
“We’ll rest there,” He said as he pointed to a tree a little ways up the road.
“Uh…I’m fine…I just wasn’t paying attention…” Rei said.
“We’ll stop anyway.” Itachi replied.
Kisame looked back at her. She looked away.

Kisame sat down on one side of the tree Rei and Itachi on the other. Itachi handed Rei the water bottle.
“I’m sorry…Itachi…” She sighed. Then she took a sip of water.
It was warm and didn’t taste good, but she didn’t let Itachi know. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back on the tree trunk. She felt Itachi put his hand on her forehead. She opened her eyes and looked at him.
“You have a fever…you should have said something.” Itachi said sounded as if he weren’t worried. But he was, Rei could see it in his eyes.
“I’m…sorry, I just didn’t want to slow you down…Itachi…”
“Hmm…” Kisame walked around the tree to them. “Well you slowed us down more by not telling us!” He said.
Itachi shot him a glare.
“I…I’m sorry Kisame-sama…” She looked up at him.
“Well we can’t stay here…it’s to hot out…” Itachi said as he got up.
“Can you make it to the next town, kid?” Kisame asked as he helped her up.
“I think so…”
Itachi and Kisame started off. Rei couldn’t keep up with them. They slowed to an easier pace for Rei. She tried hard to move faster but she just couldn’t. She began to feel light headed and was having a hard time seeing.
“Itachi…”She whimpered as she fell.
He stopped and felt her forehead.
“Your fever is getting worse…”
“The next town isn’t far from here…” Kisame said.
“She won’t make it in this heat.” Itachi said.
He picked her up. She wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Let’s go…the faster the better.” Kisame said.
Itachi took off and Kisame followed. They were in the town in less then five minutes. They found an inn and got a room. Itachi put Rei in the bed.
“I…I’m sorry…”She said.
Itachi didn’t answer her. He put a cold cloth on her forehead.
“Don’t worry about that now, just rest.” He said.
Itachi sat on one side of the futon and Kisame on the other.
“Rei…” Kisame sighed in concern.
“Unn….” She looked at him then to Itachi. She closed her eyes.
She grabbed Itachi’s hand and held it tight. He looked at her.
“You’ll be alright…I promise…” Itachi said.
Rei felt awful she couldn’t sit up without her head spinning and her mouth was dry. Also her fever refused to go down. They were at the inn for three days waiting for Rei to get better. Kisame and Itachi were both thinking it but neither would say it. But Rei could see it on their faces and hear it in their voices. It was that the mission was being delayed and that Leader would be angry. It took another day for Rei to get back on her feet. She still felt sick, but she kept it to herself. She had caused enough trouble already. They still were traveling at a slower pace than usual to not over do it.
They rested in the day when it was hot and walked in the night when it was cooler so Rei wouldn’t get another fever.

One night they were attacked by mist ninja. They had found them out. They were a normal squad of four, but they were all highly skilled ninja. The ninja attacked all at once. Rei was attack by one but Itachi stepped in to help her out. Knowing if she went over board fighting these guys would cost them when they really needed her. Kisame easily took out two of them with his huge sword.
“Pathetic…” He muttered.
Rei was sure there had been four, but only three lay on the ground. She had been right the fourth ninja jumped down from a tree branch and attacked Itachi. Itachi was caught off guard. Rei didn’t think, she just attacked him, she had to protect Itachi. She pulled him off of Itachi and punched him square in the face. But when she had whirled him around the kunai in his hand cut her shoulder open. Blood soaked through her sweatshirt. She gritted her teeth.
He got up and ran at her. She made sure to get the kunai from his hand. He punched her in the stomach, when he saw she was concentrating on the kunai. She fell over in pain. Itachi came at him so fast and hit him so hard he was thrown several feet. He probably had at least five broken ribs. He didn’t get up. Rei still lay on the ground in pain. Itachi knelt by her side.
“Rei…” He put his hand on her stomach.
“Unn…” She whined in pain. “It hurts…”
“I know…” He sighed.
She looked at him tears in her eyes from pain. With his free hand he wiped them away. Kisame walked over after checking that all the ninja were really out.
Itachi picked Rei up. The way he was holding her made her look like a small child. She whimpered in pain, but tried hard not to cry even though she wanted to so very badly. Itachi felt her forehead, her fever was coming back.
“Kisame…I’m taking her to Konoha…finish the mission on your own.”
“Alright I will…” He walked over and patted Rei on the head gently. “Get better, kid…” Rei could see he was worried.
She nodded. Then Itachi took off in the direction they had come. He looked down at her and whispered. “It’s ok to cry…”
As soon as he said that the tears rolled down her face. “I’m so…”
“Don’t…this isn’t your fault.” He said softly.
“Itachi…” She whimpered.

That was the last thing Rei could remember. She woke up in a bed she didn’t know. She looked around the room then realized she was in Sakura’s house. Itachi walked over to her.
“How are you feeling?” He asked.
“Better, but I’m…still sore…”
He didn’t say anything, but he sat on the edge of the bed. Itachi leaned over Rei and kissed her on the forehead. “I push you too hard…It’s my fault you got sick in the first place…”
“N…no it isn’t…” Rei protested
“You were afraid to tell me you were sick! I want you to be able to tell me everything…everything you want or need.”
“…”Rei was blushing. “I can…but I didn’t think it was this bad…that’s why…”
“Rei…”
She grabbed his hand again. “Do you really want me to tell you everything…Itachi?”
“Yes...”
“Then I will…I’ll always tell you everything from now on…I promise…I’m tired now…”
“Go back to sleep…”
“Stay by me?” she pleaded more then asked.
He nodded.
*I want you to be safe…because I love you…* he thought.
“I love you so much…Itachi…” She said.
“…”
“You wanted me to tell you everything…” She said.
“I love you to…”

Itachi crawled into the bed with Rei and pulled her into his arms and held her close. She snuggled up against him and drifted off to sleep. “I love you Rei and I’ll always protect you…”
