Okay, this is the second of four parts of the story! enjoy!----

Slight recap: Yuki smiled sadly again. “Heh…” she murmured, “Looks like I would go to any cost to get a dog, eh? But, it’s okay, really! I get to leave class early and I get to leave school early! The only thing is, I can't see anything anymore…I wish that I could see everything one more time…”

“B-but Yuki! What about your paintings?” cried Roze, “If you can’t see, then how are you going to create your paintings?” Yuki had a unique way of painting. If she stared at something at a short period of time, she would be able to paint it. Yuki grinned sorrowfully, “Then I guess I’ll have to give up my painting hobby.” It was then that Roze saw how much Yuki was suffering. She looked like half of her soul was wretched out of her body. Roze knew that painting meant the world to Yuki and it pained her to watch her friend go through this. “Yuki…I—“ Roze started, but was silenced by the five-minute bell. “Well, looks like I’ll have to go. Do you want to take me?” asked Yuki. Roze shakily nodded, but hastily replied “yes.”
“Then let’s go then,” said Yuki, “Come on Tobi, let’s go meet some more of my classmates.” She turned and walked straight into the door. “Ow…” exclaimed Yuki, “Guess I’ll have to watch out for doors, eh Roze?” Roze knew that Yuki was just joking around, but inside, she was crying.
Yuki and Roze had the same classes, and Yuki’s mother had told the school’s principal that only Roze was able take Yuki. The whole school day was filled with students running to go pet Tobi. Afterwards, Yuki’s mom drove up to pick up Yuki and Roze. Once in the car, Roze asked, “Um, Yuki?”-Yuki looked up- “How come Tobi didn’t bark when he was bombarded with the students? I read in a book that dogs like Tobi don’t like big crowds and will always bark…” “Oh, that…” explained Yuki, “Tobi here is a mute dog. He is still a Seeing Eye dog, but instead of barking to tell the blind person where he or she is going, he lightly nudges him/her.” “Oh…” murmured Roze. That had explained a lot to Roze.
“Well, we’re home. Roze do you want to stay over?” asked Yuki’s mom. “Uh…sure! Let me just call my mom first.” Said Roze. She took the phone that was offered to her and called her mom.
“Hello?” asked Roze’s mom.
“Mom? Can I stay at Yuki’s house?” asked Roze.
“Sure, but wait, why do you sound so sad?”
“B-because…Yuki’s BLIND!”
“Roze I love a good joke, but this isn’t the time, what is the real matter?”
“No Mom! I’m telling the truth! She came to school today with her seeing eye dog Tobi!” Roze hears a sigh on the other line.
“Roze, tell Yuki’s mom I need to speak with her.”
“Okay, hold on.” Roze turned to Yuki’s mom and handed her the phone. She joined Yuki on the second floor listening to the conversation on another phone.
“Mina, is that true?” asked Roze’s mom.
“Yes, she is really blind. The doctors say they can’t fix her eyes. It’s hopeless…”
“Now that doesn’t sound like the Mina I know! You have to find some way to keep her spirits up.”
“…She already gave up painting.” There was a high gasp on the other line.
“I-is that true? Yuki was about to go to the national art contest! How is she going to do that?”
Yuki hung up the phone. “Well, let’s get our homework done first!” she said. After two hours of homework, an hour of dinner, and a half hour of playing fetch with Tobi, Roze had to go home.
That night, Yuki couldn’t go to sleep. A statement her mom made kept on echoing in her head. “The doctors say they can't fix her eyes…can't fix her eyes, it’s hopeless…hopeless…hopeless…” Yuki fell asleep after shedding a few tears.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen table, Yuki’s mother and father were searching frantically for the artist that Yuki admired. After flipping through three phone books, they found that Leanna Komiru, revered artist lived in their neighborhood. They jotted down her phone number and decided to call her the next day.
Hopeless....
