~~~Episode Eighteen~~~
The king sat in his throne, his maids around him as he was ate. He had a thick black beard and mustache, his blue eyes glittering happily. He wore royal red robes, his white crown shining with several rubies. King Heang looked up, snapping his fingers after he wiped his mouth with a napkin.
"Maid, where is Giox? I wanted her back to sample this amazing cheesecake the cook managed to whip up."
he said, taking a slice of the cake for himself.
"I dont know your majesty. She left for the main hall with her pets."
the maid replied. Haeng swallowed, scratching his beard.
"Strange...please, send someone to fetch her, would you?"
Suddenly, shouts rang out. Everyone turned their eyes to the double doors, wondering what had happened. The doors opened slowly, and three figures walked in. They looked horribly weak and beaten, as though they had been trapped in tornado. But they couldn't have been more than 16 years of age. And laying on the ground in the hall were the guards, all knocked out with scorch marks on the ground.
The king stood, narrowing his eyes.
"What is the meaning of this?! Who are you children?!" he asked.
Haku sheeved his katana,
"Your highness, we haven't come here to harm you." he said. Zeph stepped forward,
"My lord, you have been deceived."
"Decieved?! Wait, what are you talking about!! I want an explanation now!"
Zeph took a breath,
"Giox was manipulating you all this time my lord. She was using her beasts heartless to kill the natives of this world, and to control you. She was the one who brought the ice to Scyaro."
The king stood from his throne, walking towards them.
"I'm interested in what you have to say boy...please, sit down, all of you."
"So...Giox is dead."
"Yes my lord."
The king sighed, shaking his head.
"How could have let this happen? I knew Giox wasn't to be trusted from the beginning..."
he turned his gaze upon them.
"Zeph, Haku, Yuri - thank you. You may stay here for tonight, and be treated as royal guests for what you have done for this world."
Yuri and Haku exchanged a glance as Zeph nodded, "Thank you my lord."
The king stood, hand to his forehead.
"There is much to be done and little time to do it." he said. He looked to his one of his maids,
"Tell the guards to be on high alert. Kill all of those damned creatures Giox brought here. I want them eliminated from my kingdom."
"Yes your majesty."
the maid said, bowing and leaving quickly to accomplish her orders. The king looked at them,
"One of my maids will lead you to your rooms." he said before walking towards the door, followed by guards. Suddenly, the doors burst open, a maid with curly blonde hair in the entrance. She was out of breath, and was trying to say something.
"My lord! Come to the main window! Hurry!"
she urged, speaking between her gasps for air. The king followed her quickly, Haku, Zeph, and Yuri following as well with several maids and butlers. They were led to an enourmous room made up entirely of windows. It looked over the white land, showing miles all around of snow. But, sunlight was streaming down upon them, and the king smiled faintly.
"Sunlight? This room hasn't seen sunlight in so long..." he said softly.
"The temperature outside is rising my lord! The clouds are leaving as well!" a butler said cheerfully. The king smiled,
"The ice is leaving." he said proudly.
"Yuri, come on! The ship is this way, I know it!"
Haku called as he walked on. The snow was melting, and soaked their pant legs throughly as they trekked on through the slush that was covering the ground. Yuri sighed,
"Haku, should we have just left without telling anyone?"
"Yes! We're fine Yuri. We have new clothes, more supplies, and our wounds have been treated and wrapped. We have no reason to stay here any longer with the heartless gone, and I doubt the keybearer was ever here."
Haku stopped, turning.
"Hey, theres the Gummi Ship." he said. The ship slowly faded into view, the invisibility shield around it lowering. Haku walked underneath the ship, twisting open the hatch.
"Lets get out of here."
he said as he pushed the hatch up, opening it. Yuri walked towards him, but stopped as she heard a shout. Both she and Haku turned as a figure slid down the hill nearby, stopping at the bottom and cursing loudly. Haku squinted his eyes,
"Is that Zeph??" he asked. Zeph stood, now soaked from his slid through the slush.
"Haku, Yuri, wait!" he called, running towards them. Yuri smiled,
"Zeph, whats wrong?" she asked.
Zeph came up beside her,
"I want to go with you two!" he said.
"WHAT!? Whoa, no way Zeph!" Haku said, stepping towards him.
"Haku, I dont have any reason to stay here. I have no family, and I know alot about you travelers. I'll be of use, and I'm great with ice magic!"
"I dont care if you can turn water to wine Zeph!" Haku snapped.
"Haku, let me come! If I dont prove myself, you can always bring me back and dump my a** of here!"
Yuri grinned, stepping into the conversation.
"Let him come Haku! We need help if we're going to find the keybearer, and Zeph is a pretty awesome fighter."
"Yuri, not you too!" Haku groaned. There was a silence, and Haku shook his head.
"Damn...I'm going to regret this..."
he took a breath, then looked Zeph right in the eyes,
"Zeph, you can come. But Yuri will have to brief you on what you can and cant do, and you better listen to every order I give."
Zeph smiled and nodded, "Thank you Haku."
"Yeah yeah, just shut up and lets go." Haku said rudely, pulling himself up into the Gummi Ship. Yuri smiled brightly at Zeph,
"I'll give you the rules and a grand tour of the ship! Come on!" she said before pulling herself up into the ship as well. Zeph grinned and followed her, not even glancing back at his world. He didn't want to remain here. He wanted to see other people and worlds, and experience something he could never have here on Scyaro.
The Gummi Ship lifted up off the ground, then blasted off into the blue sky, heading towards the stars that surrounded the planet of Scyaro.
