Here's chapter one of my story. It definitely needs even more revision (I revised as I typed, and it's still not enough!), but I hope you like it, anyways. (No need to comment, Sirk, because I know you hate it already)



Immediately after realizing that he was no longer where he was before, Thad said, "What the heck just -- Oh crap." His sudden shift from confusion to terror would most likely indicate that he was in a very perilous situation.

Kaze blinked twice. Usually, nothing surprises Kaze, but what was happening around him made him forget himself for a moment. Thad, Skai, Mizurai, and himself were surrounded by battleships exchanging all manner of projectiles. What's more, Skai and Mizurai, who normally cannot fly, were floating in the air without any effort at all.

Thinking quickly in spite of his own surprise, Skai put up a force field around himself and his companions before any of them were hit by a stray laser. The temporary defense allowed the heroes to get a hold of their situation.

"First of all, what just happened?" Thad demanded.

"We have somehow been dropped into the midst of a battle," Kaze explained, "And seeing as we are all flying without any effort at all, we are probably in another dimension."

"No surprise there..." said Skai, "This kind of thing seems to happen all the time."

"But...how did we get here?" Mizurai asked, obviously afraid of heights.

"Since the only object among us with any dimensional influence is Thad's fan," Kaze answered, "We can assume that it opened a dimensional portal, which brought us here."

By now, the fleets of ships surrounding the heroes suddenly decided that the heroes were hostile. They immediately stopped fighting each other and aimed all their weapons at the translucent yellow orb directly between the armies. Unfortunately for them, the force field was the kind that reflected attacks, and whatever they shot at it bounced off in some random direction, usually towards another ship.

"Now they're attacking us," Skai pointed out, "Should we strike back?"

Thad shrugged, "Why not? It couldn't possibly make things worse..."

The two spirits nodded in agreement.

"Right, then!" Thad took on a more commanding tone, "When the shield breaks, we fight!"
"From one battle to another..." Mizurai sighed, "Such is the way of things, I suppose..."

After a few moments of silence, the shield broke.
