So yesterday I read the chapter in Naruto where Sarutobi Asuma dies. That in itself is not much of a spoiler, I have to say, for I've known that Asuma was going to die eventually ever since he helped Shikamaru out while going after Gaara. (Too much time on the internet to read up on my favourite characters...) What IS the spoiler though, if this makes any sense, is how he dies.

And here's another thing, although I don't think I'd call it a spoiler. Or a relevant one at the very least. I read in some forum or other (about the same time that I heard that Asuma was going to die eventually) that someone was disappointed that Shikamaru took up smoking after Asuma dies. And that I don't really get, now that I've read the chapters where Asuma dies, because I think it's kind of sweet how he does that. I mean, it just goes to show you how much Asuma really meant to him (Putting his revenge fight with Hidan aside, I guess.). Wouldn't you agree?

Anyway. He made himself... heheh, listen to me talk about him like he's a real person... He made himself the fourth manga character that I've ever cried over upon their death. First being Haku, second being the Sandaime Hokage, both from Naruto. And the third was Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes, obviously from Fullmetal Alchemist.

Like I had discussed with my friends, it isn't necessarily the fact that those characters died... it's the reaction that the people around them have. When the manga-ka express the effect of a character's death so well like that, I feel that effect. Especially when the friggin' manga-ka build you up to really love the character and then- dink! Off they go! For example, when Haku and the Sandaime Hokage died I merely cried for a few while reading it and then moved on to the next chapter. But when Hughes and Asuma died..... it threw my WHOLE day off because I got a tad bit more than slightly depressed!

I guess I'm done rambling now... and can hardly believe I honestly sat writing about manga that long, heheh. Catch ya later!
