*I know a lot of the poetry I decide to post probably sucks a**, but for some reason, I still post it. Sorry if you don't like it, or it doesn't make sense, or whatever, but, in all honesty, it's poetry- you don't have to like it, nor does it have to make sense*
You and Her
All you see are these dead hazel eyes With circles underneath from one too many good cries All you hear is this imperfect voice And you don’t even think you have a choice
You walk away without a second glance Leave in the hallway or drop out at a dance You never even thought of what you left behind You never even wondered what you might find
You know the story well But it’s one you rarely tell Of that time you left that lonely girl alone Went back to those other people or talking on your phone
Why didn’t you see that she might have wanted a friend Or that for once you might not have to pretend That you might like her for who she was No, you didn’t think, you just left because
It’s what the popular kids said to do You wanted to go back and hang with your crew You saw the pain hidden deep in her eyes And inside your head you could almost hear her cries
But you turned your back and walked away For petty reasons I dare not say She stood there alone that day long ago You saw her there and left without even thinking “so?”
So maybe she wanted a hug that day Or just someone to ask if she was really ok So maybe she needed a friendly smile And not just to blend in like a plain old wall tile
But you turned your back and walked away Without a friendly wave or a “hey,” Without even realizing a “maybe” or a “so” She stood there alone that day long ago
