You tell yourself
When you fail
When you lie

When cry
When you don’t get want you want

But no matter how much you wish
On that shooting star
On your birthday
In your heart
You will never get what you wished for

Though no one says it
You know that
I know that
They know that
We all know that

But we do it anyway
Just to hope
Just to fill in what is empty
Just to pass time
Just to hide

Or maybe we do it because
There in the back of our minds
We actually think that
It might
Just a slight

Really come true
