stuff about my life and things i have written over the years
ouch
wow. i was going through my journal today and noticed something. NO ONE reads them. which kinda hurts cause i posted some poems on there to let people read them and tell me if they liked them. so to me the lack of comments means one of two things 1) no one read them or 2) people read them but didnt like the poems. well to those people who read them and didnt like them u can F!@K OFF!!! im sick and tired of people reading things that i have written based on past experiences and telling me its garbage. not only do most of my peers think this but apparently so do the publishers i have sent my poems to. and the ONE "publisher" who does like it wants ME to pay for the poem to be published in the first place. scream how fair is that??? it isnt. why should i have to pay for something to be published???
That is why I gave up on writing poetry for publishing many, many moons ago!
People are just not into poems any more. It used to be a fad years ago, where local tea shops would even held "poetry nights"... folks could gather in a local coffee/tea joint and share their poems, and if they were lucky a "scout" might even be there and ask your to get the work published! Now the few places still running are more often than not full of goth wannabes who are too chicken to actually off themselves, but need the attention and vent their misery onto any yahoo that will listen to them by reading poems about their own death and suicide.
Not very many people even realize there are more than one form of poetry out there... most folks don't even realize that not all poems need to rhyme! They assume that if it doesn't, it must be garbage. Or better yet they complain that a word isn't "exactly" a rhyming word just because it isn't spelled in similar fashion.
Then there are the callus types who take a work from the heart and gripe that you're being to morose and emotional for their liking. These people must have ice for hearts.
Of course this all more or less boils down into profit. One can no longer write on a certain topic anymore without having to pay someone for the use of "their" idea. For instance if you listen to the latest songs, or watch a TV show, there are too many "clones" out there... people can't come up with an "original" as all the good ones have been done already, and have made it so no one else can use it. Once in a blue moon someone will actually come up with something truely original, but it too gets added to the "pay me for it's use or I'll sue" way of things.
