His luminescent green eyes sparkled with excitement, like a small child waking up on Christmas Day to find brilliantly wrapped packages under the tree. His usually untidy, shaggy, caramel-brown hair was plastered to his forehead from the sudden down pour of rain, and his glowing face glistened with tiny water droplets. He was grinning from ear to ear, as his breath came in shallow, unsteady intervals. Taking my hand in his, the warmth of his large hand sending sudden chills through my being, he pulled me closer to him and leaned towards me, his face inches from my own.
I could feel his warm breath on my face, the smell intoxicating, as he gently moved a piece of soaked hair from my eyes. With a chuckle and a smile, he abruptly pulled away from me, but kept his hand on mine. Looking towards the forest, then back at me, he smiled mischeviously once more, exposing his perfect white teeth. Suddenly, he was off, running into the dense thicket of green trees that lay before us, pulling me along with him.
Our feet sloshed on the ground almost rhythmically in time, as he led the way somewhere deep into the forest, expertly avoiding obstacles such as tree branches or fallen logs. Rain was still falling, but we were shielded by the canopy of tree leaves above our heads. He didn't slow down as he pulled me along deeper into the forest, only occasionally glancing back to check if I were still intact. Where we were headed was still a mystery to me, and only he knew what lay before us on our venture into the almost unknown.
