Well, I promised I would do it, so here it is.
I've been playing around with the idea in my head for a while now and have finally decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I'm going to go ahead and start writing in my journal again.
Don't mistake my decision to write as a promise of some epic novel. I'm going to start small. Little steps to help me learn and grow with my talent. There will be no chaptered sequence of events, just a series of short stories with a common inspiration and only a very tenuous connection to each other if any at all.
The inspiration of these little stories should be obvious by my title, but still I shall explain. For a long time now, ever since I've been a small child, I've found myself fascinated by a television series called "The Twilight Zone". For anyone who payed attention to the title sequence of the show, they know what the show and its series of stories were about. Random, weird happenings where normal people are put into very abnormal circumstances. It was less about anything twilight and more of an exploration of the human mind and how it might react if confronted by certain twists and complications. I look back upon many episodes fondly, remembering how they stretched the imagination and always seemed to have some very serious and valid point to make.
My writings will follow a similar path set down by this show, but will not be quite the same. While I will still be using the human mind and its terrifying depths to guide by works, I will be sticking closer to the theme of the title, "Twilight". The essence of this title is of a place between, a location that is neither here nor there, a certain gray and nebulous aspect that resists definition. Each of my stories should explore some aspect of this blurred area and hopefully cause readers to consider where the acts and events taken place within reside in reference to the line that separates right and wrong, good and bad, and perhaps even fate and free will.
Ultimately I'm only seeking to use these stories for two purposes. The first being to entertain you, the reader, and the second being a way to learn how to write better. I hope you can come and read often, perhaps even leave a comment on what you thought. My comments are open to discussion, arguments, critiques, and criticism alike.
My first story should be up within the week as a mild introduction to what I have planned. And please remember to enjoy yourself first before taking anything too seriously.
