Fantasies of the Twilight: Of Thorny Roses; Prolouge
JB Keyser Presents
Of Thorny Roses:
Prolouge
Moray (Boy)
Catriona (Girl)

A boy began hiking up through the tundra of the small hills, his head a familiar red and his eyes a witchblade, scottish green. He hiked through the brush, his little white falcon friend on his shoulder enjoying the breeze. The little bird's wings stretched to feel the wind rush through it's small feathers. All the townspeople were about to destroy this poor little wanderer as he hopped around, because unlike most of the perrigines he was completely white and many thought he was a cursed bird.

The boy continued climbing up the hills of Scotland and suddenly he was grabbed around the waist and forced to stop. He looked at the little hands and turned around, it was his little friend, "Catriona, what shall I do with you?"

The little girl looked up with foreign black hair and hazel brown and gray eyes. She rubbed her curly hair into his back and she cried, "Moray! Why do you have to flee? Did Gràinne scare ye to leave? We can go to the cave and we'll stay there for a night. Come on let's go." She began trying to drag him down the hill.

Moray held her hand and shouted, "No Catriona, I already told you it is nothing on Gràinne's head!" He grabbed her shoulders gently and held her firm. He stared at her sad eyes and explained gently, "I am in need to find my parents. I have asked you for your permission and you said "Yea" why do you change your mind as I leave to find the steps of my father and mother?"

" 'Tis because I will feel alone if ye leave. Why do ye seek the path of your father?"

Moray stroked her head and said, "Catri, I have already told you my story and you have been there to hear some of the words. They, the people, callst me the 'acursed child' you have heard it a many atimes. Gràinne told me if I wish to know the answer I must seek my father and mother out beyond the walls of our town and beyond these hills."

Her eyes teared in a furious storm she dug her arms around him in a tight embrace. The little eaglet jumped on her shoulder and rubbed against her face in sympathy. Moray looked at his little falcon friend and he smirked, "It looks like dear little Coinneach wants to stay with you."

The girl looked at him with surprised bright eyes that matched nothing with her rags, she exclaimed, "But tis your companion for your trip." He just patted her head for a few seconds and then broke the embrace.

He looked at her his green eyes filled a sorrow yet sparks of happiness still reigned in his eyes, "No worries Catri, you take care of Coinneach. He will find me and we can send letters once he flys. And when I return like I've promised as a plenty as the stars above, I will come and we will become dear friends again. I swear on our God!"

Catriona looked upon him, joy filled her eyes to a healthy brown and blue self. She giggled, "Pray to God that he gives you good tidings, dear Moray. I want you back alive so I can tell you something important."He nodded and after some waves of goodbyes and some bird tears shed, Moray was gone.

All that was left was a little girl in rags praying on the winds that fate would bring him back.
