Drake Attack
Silvion and me had just gotten out of combat practice at the base. We just ate, and now we're on our way to the Foxfeather Plains to meet up with Luna.
It was such a beautiful day. We were soaring high though the sky, breathing in the clouds and surfing the breeze. I was nearly blinded by the shine made by Silvion's white scales reflecting the sunlight.
We were doing fine until we heard a harsh, shrill cry from somewhere. To investigate, we flew faster but hid among the clouds just in case.
We flew farther as the cries got louder. Eventually we came to a small region on the edge of the Sky Islands (Magic islands that float in the air) and found homes and people being terrorized by a small group of alphadrakes (evil half-dragon-half-snake demons with pitch-black scales that can breathe fire and spit the deadliest venom).
"Damnit!" I said. "How'd they get loose!?"
There were four of them, burning down houses, fields and people. Grabbing the hilt of my sword, I let loose a loud war cry as we descended down to the islands, ready for battle.
We caught sight of our first target. I lifted my sword out of its sheath and held it high. Before the demon could even blink, we swooped down upon it and I sliced through its lower neck, decapitating it. It gave a loud scream as its disconnected head and body faded into black dust.
"One down," I said with a smirk. "Three to go."
We turned around and saw an alphadrake snatching a roof off a house and then crushing it with its powerful jaws. The family hiding within the house could only watch in horror as the demon looked down upon them with hunger.
Before I could think, Silvion flew to it until it was right behind it. Taking a deep breath, he opened his giant mouth, and a river of blue flame came rushing out in a river of heat. Right when the alphadrake was about to snatch up the people inside the destroyed house, the fire enveloped it until it singed into black dust.
"Great job, boy." I said as I patted his scaly head. He growled acceptingly in response.
Hearing yet another hellish shriek, we turned around to see an alphadrake spitting fire all over a large island.
I told Silvion to land at the edge. After doing so, I leaped off his back and lifted my sword as I charged towards the demon. When it spotted me, it growled low as it spit fire at me. I dodged it, but a stray flame caught my shoulder, burning it. I slowed down for a second as the pain hit me like a hard, beating wind. I heard Silvion roar behind me in anger and worry. But I turned around to him and nodded my head to him, letting him know I was okay.
Returning my attention to the b*****d monster that burnt me, I lifted my sword again and sprinted.
He tried multiple times to burn me, but I dodged each ball of fire as it came near. Then, I jumped high in the air and landed in front of his belly. The idiot demon was still looking around in the air for me.
Smirking, I lifted my sword and cut him in the shape of my symbol before thrusting through the center and right through the heart.
The alphadrake roared in pain as it discintegrated.
I was breathing a bit heavily as I watched it fade. Then Silvion came up behind me and picked me up by the back of my vest, sitting me back down on his back.
"Thanks."
Then I remembered there was one more. But it was quiet. We looked in every possible direction for a sign of the demon, but we never saw it.
Suddenly it tackled Silvion from the side. He was forced in the opposite direction, and I was flung from his back high into the air.
It all happened so quickly, I didn't even comprehend until I realized I was swinging in the clouds. I reached for my sword which was flying near my head, and managed to snag it before it cut me.
I saw Silvion flying north towards me, with the alphadrake coming behind him. He nipped me back up onto his back before the monster could get to me.
At that moment, an idea came to mind.
"Fly higher, Silvion!" I told him.
He obeyed as we climbed higher and higher into the sky. His wings beat hard and continuously as we began to escape the demon. It suddenly stopped.
When I urged Silvion to stop, I climbed up to his head and grabbed both of his horns.
"Throw me up!!"
Hesitating for a minute, Silvion bent his long neck down until he brought it back up in great force. I let go of his horns as I was sent high into the atmosphere yet again.
The alphadrake was coming back to get us, just as I figured it would.
I pulled my sword from its sheath again as I held it tight, positioning it directly south.
Its mouth opened, and I saw a red fire kindling in the back of its throat.
I dove faster and faster towards the hellish creature.
"GO!"
I launched my sword straight down, just before the drake was about to singe me. My blade went right down his throat and its body, tearing it from the inside out. It made a horrible, ear-shattering shriek as its body broke apart into microscopic pieces of darkness.
I continued to dive until I caught my sword. And right before I hit the earth, which was coming up fast, Silvion caught me on his back, and we descended safely to the ground.
I collapsed against Silvion, breathing heavily. When I opened my eyes, I saw how he was glaring at me, scolding me without words. I chuckled.
"I know; I won't do that again."
He growled with satisfaction.
