Chapter 7: The New Years' Banquet
Two months later, Shigure announced at dinner that the New Years' Banquet was again on its way. "And for some reason, Akito decided to invite Tohru." Shigure added. "So he really is trying to change, huh?" Kyo mumbled. "It would seem so." Yuki said, supporting his pregnant stomach that had grown over the months. As the other three talked amongst themselves for a few seconds, Yuki glanced down at his pregnant stomach with a warm smile.
He could feel everything they were doing. One of the twins laid its tiny head against his flesh and the other pawed at his stomach. Yuki smile became brighter. The girls were right. Having a baby is a beautiful thing. He took a breath as one of the twins kicked. "The kids kickin'?" Kyo asked with a joking smile, snapping Yuki back to reality. "Y-yeah." Yuki smiled his usual sweet smile. One of the twins' tiny feet pressed against Yuki's bladder, making him stand up and leave for just a few minutes, giving the others time to squeal about Yuki's pregnancy.
"I can't wait until Yuki gives birth." Tohru admitted. "They're gonna be so cute!" "But, I don't think I wanna be there." Kyo sighed. "Cuz' I know the first neck he's gonna grab for." He pointed at his own neck. "or he might crush the hell out of someone's hand." Shigure laughed. "What year is it?" Yuki asked, returning. "It's the Year of the Dragon." Shigure answered him.
"So, Hatori's doing that dance?" Tohru asked. Kyo couldn't help but laugh at the thought of seeing Hatori in that ridiculous costume. Yuki and Shigure nodded to Tohru's question. "So, when should we leave?" Tohru smiled. "Somewhere around 10." Yuki said, returning to his spot.

A few hours later, the quartet arrived at the Sohma estate. Kagura, Ritsu, Ayame, Haru and Momiji met the quartet almost immediately. Momiji smiled and hugged Yuki. "How're the babies doing?" Haru asked. Yuki made his stomach more prominent and lightly patted his stomach with his free hand. "I'm at the end of my second trimester." Yuki said proudly. "Three more months to go." Ayame almost leaped on him again, but realizing that it could hurt the baby, he took it easy.
"Ok, Ayame! Leggo!" Yuki laughed. Ayame let go, smiling. "Hi, Yuki." another voice said. Akito wrapped his arm around Yuki's shoulder. "How's everything?" he asked, smiling at Yuki. "Good." Yuki smiled. Here the twins kicked, making Yuki's hand travel up to his stomach.
"Can I?" Akito asked, his hand held up slightly. "Of course." Yuki smiled. Akito's hand carressed Yuki's swollen stomach. 'Well...' Shigure thought. 'I thought that it was new for Yuki and Kyo to be friends. Now it's Yuki and Akito.' The banquet proceeded as usual. Hatori came out to perform his dance of the new year. Yuki was invited to sit next to Akito the whole time. Suddenly, Yuki groaned and doubled over in pain, halting Hatori's dance. "Yuki!" Tohru gasped.
Hatori raced over to Yuki and led him to his office. Akito, in absolute panic, hit the table while standing up. "Ow." he murmured to himself. The other Sohmas and Tohru followed Akito to Hatori's office. When they got there, they saw Yuki looking rather embarassed and Hatori smiling to the paniced group.
"Relax, everybody." he reassured them. "It was just a false alarm. The twins are just practicing for the big day." Kyo was in such panic that he couldn't help but faint. "Not again." Shigure sighed. The Mabudachi trio went to help Kyo up. Yuki stood up and bowed apolegeticcly. "I'm so sorry for freaking you all out." he begged for forgiveness. Akito lightly patted his head. "That's ok." he smiled. "You couldn't help it. Besides, over-apoligizing is Ritsu's thing." A huge sweatdrop ran down Ritsu's forehead at this statement.
The Mabudachi trio woke Kyo up and with that, the New Years' Banquet continued on, as if nothing ever happened.
