Here's a sonnet about a friend who moved away - I wrote it for school and then kinda fell in love with it. biggrin
Through darkness and despair I have seen
How good of a friend I have within you.
When it was time to leave, the pain was keen -
But somehow it helped that you felt it, too.
Your crystalline blue eyes swam, as did mine.
Travel around the world; North, South, East, West.
Will your eyes still swim, or will you be fine?
Idolizing you has made me my best.
Will the darkness fall, the despair leave me?
Will I still have that same old friend in you?
You taught me who I am - who I should be,
How to dress, what to think, what I should do.
When the time comes for us to meet again,
I know I will still have that same old friend.

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim.
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name.
