few rats live solitary in the wild, some in close family groups. a lot of rats live in the rose's thorp. a sanctuary and headquarters made for the rats and other tiny animals by the grayseers. a group of blind rats that claimed to have the power of clairvoyance. the grayseers know the role of the rodents and try to keep the rats inline. often advertising the rats uncanny ability for finding food. the rats that live as a part of Rose's thorp are given a job to earn their keep, a lot of jobs have been issued, everything form breeders to ambassadors.

the Rats relationship with almost every other Reject has greatly improved after humans appeared. some of the rats have been praying on the other rejects fear of human saying things like how bad the humans are and that its unsafe to look for food with the humans around. this is just lies to sell the rats ability to find food. this has helped reduce the number of rats and mice being eaten. Rats relationship with humans changes from rat to rat, some are interested in the humans others fear them.
