Annaria sat bolt right up in bed, gasping with fear. She looked around her room, noticing the faint sunlight begin to seep through her window. She thought of last night, wondering if it was a dream, or nightmare. At that instant, her father peeked in her room.
"Oh, you're awake?" he asked, coming into her room and sitting on the bed.
"Uh... I guess... what happened last night? I don't remember coming home..." she said, her hand over her heart.
"Well, you didn't come home. I found you lying out in the street, not too far away from the house. Did you faint or something?" he asked.
"Um.... yeah... Yeah, I guess I did...." she pondered.
It wasn't a dream. After she had encountered those gorgeous beings in the street, she had fainted. Leon.... Her father left her room so she could change for the day. She looked out her window to see the overcast sky. She loved days like these, and hoprfully it would rain. She came down for breakfast, finding her father's girlfriend in the kitchen.
"Oh, Anna! Do you want some toast or eggs?" she asked, "I was just about to make some pancakes. Would you like some of those?"
"No thank you. I'm not hungery." she said dully, grabbing her book bag and fixing her tie on her uniform.
She headed out to the entry way and through the door, her father trying to call out to her as she left.
On her way down the street, she pulled a band out from her book bag and tied her hair up. She passed by someone as she worked on her hair, and the strawberry blonde hair was familiar. She stopped as the stranger passed her, looking back to see him walk on down the street. But for a split second, he had turned his head to see her as well, a sinister smile playing on his lips.
She ran the rest of the way to school. She immediately ran to her classroom, not knowing where else she could go that was safe.
"Miss Williams? Are you all right?" asked the instructor, hurrying over to the gasping student.
"I just- He was- On the street- Wasn't a dream-" she gasped, clutching to the instructor.
"What? Miss Williams, please calm down." she said, just as other students began to enter the class.
As she looked around at the other students, twin girls entered the classroom, one blond, on raven-haired. Annaria hurried out of the classroom and to the restrooms, the instructor left dumbfounded. She ran right into someone as she came up to the restrooms, and the stranger grabbed her by the arms.
"Annaria, calm down." the familiar voice instructed.
She looked up into his soft pale blue eyes, her eyes wide with fright. He looked up over her to see the twins approaching.
"What are you two doing here?" he growled, keeping her close to him.
"Jaden went out this morning. We were just looking for him." the blond responded.
"And he's here?" he asked, no surprise in his voice.
"Yeah. We think he's after the girl." the raven-haired said.
"Of course he's after her. He thinks this is just a game..." he pondered, relaxing his grip on Annaria.
"Um... Leon?" Annaria looked up at him.
The twins came up behind her, the blond placing her hand on Annaria's shoulder, "We need to keep her safe. Do you want to find him, Leo?" she asked.
He looked around the hall as the bell rang.
"Get her to class," he said swiftly, turning and pacing down the hall.
